My girlfriend knows what a coder needs when it’s their birthday. Lucky to have her. Walked into my room and it was set up like this.51

so my isp assigned all of our devices WAN ip's instead of giving our router a WAN ip and letting us handle our own lan.
so our subnet is x.x.15.255
but when I subnet scan x.x.255.255 I get 1337 results, no joke 1337
so I can access windows servers, ip cameras, sure a lot of them are locked, I'm scanning 0.0.0.1 - 255.255.255.255 now to see what else there is.

Git.
The smallest utility made its way to being the largest companies must-have, the most critical part of the whole development landscape.
Using just plain C, Git can shred huge amounts of data insanely fast. It never gets old.
Git is a developer's scalpel.11 -
My last boss, one of a kind:
Despite being an officer and me just a lowly enlisted, always closed the door and asked for my honest and unfiltered opinion on why whatever we're doing is a stupid fucking idea. Understood that when I call everyone idiots, it's not out of spite or disrespect. It's because they have no clue what they are doing and making nonsensical requests, and I just want to get us back on track.
A good boss doesn't say things like "I'm in charge so this is how we do it" or "I'm an officer so you can't criticize me because that's disrespect!" But instead listens to the ideas and thoughts of those that nobody else takes seriously.2 -
My last to last companies boss.
He was kernal in INDIAN ARMY.
Once customer call me now start using bad words ,I try to stop my self and trying to be a professional person but he was asshole.
So I start using bad words.
Immediately cut his internet connection and cctv connection everything which was in my hand?
I told him to come office.
He was 45 year person ,I was 19 year boy ,he bring some friends to beat me.
My boss got this news ,he immediately come to office n locked my cabin.
Stand infront of them.
N hold customers collars.
Told him that I don't know your background but I was kernal ,I believe in my employ ,he will never crossed his limit until you crossed your.

My 7 year old sister: Why do you always use the duck? Go on google.
Me: Because Google spies on you.
Sister: How??
Me: *too tired to explain* by magic. Whatever you go on, they'll know.
Sister: *shocked expression* WHAT? *proceeds to ask a million questions.*
Sister: What do I do now?
Me: Use the duck (she calls ddg "the duck.")
Then a few hours later, I saw her playing Y8 on DuckDuckGo. I'm so proud of her. :)
Now if only I can convince my 15 year old little brother to do the same thing. He doesn't seem to care at all.55 -
We got a binary clock at our trainstation. I love it, but most of the people think it's wasted money because they can't read it.66

If you're so fucking mentally lazy that you can't write something halt-decent the first time, maybe you shouldn't write anything at all!

Since yesterday, I have become a Computer Science student! 🎉
I just have to be careful not to cause something like the NASA internship girl. 😁6 -
Today I learned that there is a person who exists, called Logan Paul, who doesn't do anything, but is enormously famous, presumably, for being famous. None of the hundreds of people I follow on twitter follow him, which I find reassuring.7

One of my favorite aspects of devRant has always been getting to learn more about the awesome people who use it. Beyond just the awesome stories posted by many here, one of my favorite ways to learn about and feel connected to the people here has always been desk/setup reveals. I personally love seeing different kinds of setups from all over the world, knowing that’s what the people here use to do their work and compute in general.
As an experiment, we want to try a few different things to highlight desk/setup/remote coding location posts. First, we’ve created the first devRant Instagram account, which is completely focused on developer desks/setups/workstations/remote coding. Please check it out here and follow: https://www.instagram.com/devdesks/
I want to use the account to bring more attention to the wide assortment of setups the awesome members of the devRant community post from all over the world. We’ll promote cool desk/setup/remote work images that are posted on devRant to the Instagram account for more exposure/additional audience.
Beyond that, I also want to try to come up with a way to better organize all of the desk/setup posts on devRant and encourage more of them. One kind we don’t see that often that I personally really enjoy is people coding with their laptops in locations that show the culture of their country or something special about the region they are from. Personally, I’m going to try to post some of those for where I live and work.
So how can you help with this effort? It’s easy! We encourage people to post their setups/working remotely pics and we will start featuring them on the Instagram account and hopefully elsewhere in the devRant app for some increased visibility/searchabilty over what we have now (since pics are kind of hard to search).
Also, we plan to make the weekly rant this week “post your setup,” so maybe wait until then to post, and you can work now on getting that awesome shot :) I know a lot of people here love photography like I do, so I think that part is fun too.
Please let me know if you have any ideas or questions about this, and I’m looking forward to seeing the desks/setups of many more devRanters in the next few days!
P.S. not a requirement, but one thing I think makes these photos better looking through a lot of them is when there is code visible in some way.44 -
My company just made a nice design on the first door you see after entering the building.
Im so happy they started counting dev rooms from 034 -

Every time I code, my programmer boyfriend has to be near me. Why, you may ask? Because this happens too often:
me: *yells bf name*, why does this not work?????
bf: here, lemme see
*code mysteriously works when bf comes to see*
bf: what, theres nothing wrong with that
