Help me understand something.
I used this App on my phone to buy a few things. I ended up buying nothing but did search a bunch of stuff.
I removed that app
Now, I am using another app (for video compression) and its shows adds.
Here is the interesting bit: its showing add for that App/website and its showing all the items I searched for 😮
How does one app knows what i searched for in another app?3
They don't understand.... They just don't understand at all.
They think I am sitting in front of computer all day surfing the web.
They distract me at the rate of 15 distractions / hour (I work from home mostly)
WHY? WHY? WHY?
why can't I simulate a simple background fetch? I have been wasting hours in order to find a solution but I can't.
My manager keeps asking if there is something he can do to that can speed things up for us devs (there has been a lot of work.. a lot)
I was thinking about asking for hardware upgrade (apart from other processes related stff).... Want to get SSD but not sure if it would be beneficial enough.
What do you guy think?3
It was still unacceptable but come on, reduced time to 25% of original
Found that a QA guy was testing some functionality on a page. He had to pick one record at a time by applying some filters and then hit Process. Apparently, there was no bulk post implemented (the functionality was hard wired in the screen-topic for another debate)
Best feeling ever
Hey! Check this out!
My profile has a unique number. 386
You know why? Because there was an intel 386.
Thank you for your support everyone. You made me reach this goal.
I am so blessed!
Awesome folks here
For those who don't get it, it is sarcasm1
Starting a project on Xamarin.
Cant decide between Shared project or PCL
Want to be able to share code/UI design between multiple apps
Can't find any nuget package to ease REST API consumption.1
Awesome products to build
Work from home
New technologies to work with
Edited grub for the first time. Used vi.... WTF IS that thing. Yes, I am a bit new to Linux but who can work in that thing? You either type or move around/delete/save but can't do both. Took me 20 mins to add a dozen characters6
Microsoft's font making headlines these days
The Calibri font could be an unlikely smoking gun in a corruption scandal which has mired Pakistan's ruling family https://t.co/BnONnwMas01
My wife just asked...
Why do you keep looking at your phone? What do you do on it all the time? You dont even have Facebook or WhatsApp...
It's devRant baby7
A colleague just told me that his Windows 10 got an update today and now Edge is not working (hangs when typing in searchbar) and IE is completely removed (can't find a trace of it)
I have my updates paused so I guess I am safe for now.
Did I mention we have to work on a silverlight app that only runs in IE4
Deleted all my social media accounts, even WhatsApp
Only have SO, Twitter, & Devrant.
These ought to be enough 😎10
Whats up with dates? I really hate handling dates. Specially in client server communication using JSoN. I mean common.
The other day, QA reported a bug that the date is different on screen. I looked into it and found that the date was once transformed at the server while converting model to json (adding offset from server time to UTC). Then again on client when creating date object, the date was being transformed to client time zone. The worst part was, it was not reproducible in development environment because both client and server are in same time zone. I had to usr VMs to reproduce the issue.
The actual date with time was mindate i.e. 1-1-1970 but after these offset calculations it was showing as 31-12-1969. WTF.
I hate handling dates. Hate it.1
So, we were in middle of this in-house training session on Typescript, which was being held on Skype as the trainer was in another office in different city, when suddenly a senior fellow (working as associate architect and sitting right across the table from me in training session) asked a <put some nice adjective here> question:
Why should we use TypeScript? Why not jQuery?
There was silence for a few moments from the other end (there was no video of the trainer but I could feel the bewilderment on his face). Then the trainer broke the silence by saying that he didn't understand the question. After multiple attempts, I intervened by politely mentioning thay one is a language while the other is a library.
Here comes the best part
The senior guy replied and was rather adamant that I was wrong and that jQuery was, infect, a language.
I wonder, to this day, how he managed to become architect and who the fuck hired him?1
True Story: Stupid Ass recruitment people
I have had some HR people, who dont know how to Google/research or don't feel like asking the technical people for what they need and instead rely on hot buzz words that are circulating in the industry.
A couple of new positions opened up in our team.
We needed people with jQuery skills.
Consequently, we couldn't find people in time, the project was delayed and I (and one other person) had excessive work load3
