Anyone here familiar with nginx site configuration?
I'm trying to set up it so that my nginx server serves a static website on my domain, redirects users attempting to access via HTTP to HTTPS and proxies a locally hosted server to a subdomain.
At the moment I'm struggling with how I can make both work as you can only bind a port once.
If you know resources that could help me setting up the domains, I'd appreciate it very much.
Thanks in advance. ;)10 -
When and how did you learn about devRant? I can't remember how I learned about it but it was probably thanks to it being recommended on the Google Play Store.6

Lying in bed and thinking about negative things over and over is quite self destructive it seems.
So if you do that, please don't do as I do and get out of bed. Don't let it turn you into a slob. Don't let it haunt you through your day.2 -
Any fellow Gentoo users here? How much pain did you have to suffer?
Should I upgrade my Gnome version to the newest version while expecting no issues? (am running systemd)
Can I just unmask the Gentoo kernel source package and expect to just compile a 4.14 kernel?
I don't want to break that system because I use it everyday...3 -
Dear devRant team,
please add a dark and a darker theme to the devrant web client in the near future.
Thank you :)8 -
A small startup founded by university students is looking for IT talents that know "PHP/Javascript/CSS/SQL etc."
My guess is that it has something to do with art.
I am not a webdev but I do not thing that this is alright...1 -
I didn't know that the colour of the Chrome offline game changes once you have reached a certain score. Also these birds are annoying.14

Follow up.
Did the only sensible thing IMO and installed a Linux VM on that thing.
In case you don't know what this is about. Essentially at the hotel I'm staying at they have put iMacs in every room as a TV replacement. And some of them run an OSX version from 2011! That means there a quite a lot of known remote execution bugs known for these devices. You can't update them either because they reset after each reboot. Because I was sick of using Firefox 6 for watching videos I installed xubuntu on that thing. (God knows why the admin passwort is blank)3 -
Every room at the Hotel I'm staying at has a Mac as a TV replacement. The thing is it runs a Mac OS X version from 2011. Any suggestions on what I should do next?2

Got my stickers today! Now all I need is a laptop to put them onto. They don't deserve being slapped onto my computer case.1

I'll be enrolling a Computer science in Germany (it's called Informatik over here) in October. Any tips and suggestions that can help me survive my first 2 semesters?12

@dfox For some reason I can no longer scroll up once I have reached the end of my profile page. I have to reach that certain point so that I'm unable to scroll up.5

I finally have good reasons to run servers or use VMs. Setting up a Linux Box has never been so rewarding.

Any advice on how to get started with porting an old Cyanogenmod ROM 13.1 for an unsupported device to upstream LineageOS?
I'd love to go through the process porting LineageOS to a device even though I know that no one should use an HTC One V in this day and age.18
