so today, i got in trouble at school for trying to get admin privileges for a password manager i used. (didn't actually do... attempted.) All my passwords are random, 24 chars long, i don't remember them - just copy paste from vault
so he said this about using strong, half decent passwords...
"Don't make your passwords complex! All those security guys act smart, but they're really idiots. Set all your passwords to the same thing and make it something like password12345."
so i do multiple aspects of development, including frontend, and backend. i'm trying to get back into game development (specifically 3d) and can't make heads or tail of blender.
Does anyone have a good tutorial?1
me: "Hey Apple? Your light default theme in xcode is burning my retinas."
apple: "use civic"
me: "OK... let's take a look..."
when you dark theme, you dark theme all the way. they literally forgot to add dark theme where it needs it the most. and no, you can NOT customize that.18
upgraded my dev setup in my spare time
Mac Terminal to Hyper
bash to zsh
atom to vscode
dark themed everything i use (github, stack overflow, devrant, google, discord, etc.)25
A person in my class named Nick said this when he saw me using command line; (not even actively working on a project)
"You're a hacker? ThAt'S iLLeGaL!!!"
had to explain ethical hacking and goddamn computer science to him, and after, still insisted I am doing "𝕚𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕘𝕒𝕝 𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕧𝕚𝕥𝕪".
May be the worst developer decision I have ever made... but I think I want to consider switching the architecture in my video chat app to serverless (like now.sh)
cheaper for me as well.1
making a command line app that automatically orders pizza after calculating the hungriness of the user by the time and number of atom errors.
no i am not kidding5
suuuuuuuuuuuper late but i got around to learning react and react native. Quite dank, if i do say so myself.4
A quick note about node.js security.
Decompiled Discord, a widely used chat app. Found 5 vulnerabilities (that are now reported.) Why? Severely outdated dependencies.
Cloned Mattermost, a business communication app like Slack, but open source, and (from their site) the Department of Defense uses it. Found 10 vulnerabilities (that are now reported.) Why? Severely outdated dependencies.
I get that some versions conflict, and in a fast moving enviroment, that is a huge risk - but update your damn dependencies.14
Does anyone else think Android development is kind of dead?
I mean there is a great article for this (https://email@example.com/...) but basically, React Native and its' tons of "flavors" have beaten native Android Development so badly, Android isn't anything special anymore - nobody wants to touch Mobile Java in 2018.
Google's response? Make another framework to compete with itself. This is why I said I wasn't joking when I "quit" android dev.16
