So my Cyber Security lecturer was talking about scam emails and how potential hackers can spoof their identity in order to gain information or get some malware on your PC.
Since this was all really obvious, I decided to email him with a crude scam email myself for the lols.
To his credit he saw the funny side.6 -

Which is better; Ubuntu or Fedora? I'm debating moving to Fedora as a daily driver but information online is a bit all over the place.5

So I was in a training course today teaching us the basics of JIRA. (Turns out when they said basics, they really mean basic. I learnt nothing) Out of the blue, mid way through the lecture, a lady in her late 40's asks, "Can you copy and paste into JIRA". Has anyone considered using Trump's tweets as a random number seed. That would be some pretty strong encryption you could produce...4

So I'm using a temperature sensor to detect the air temperature in a box. I'm getting readings of about 225°C. Thinking that's weird I check the algorithm converting the input to celceius. Seems legit. Okay must be hardware, let's try resetting the sensor into the board. Turns out the readings weren't lying... Long story short, if you reverse the polarity of a temperature sensor you get a very powerful heater...5

I'm tasked to set up a small network with a Cisco router and switch. The router only has one FastEthernet port but it's okay because VLAN trunking is a thing. So I go through each config, set up an IP addressing scheme, SSH, DHCP, VLAN's and secure each device. I go to setup trunking on the port connecting the switch to the router and find out the switch doesn't support encapsulation (required for trunking)... Oh and because it's uni equipment I'm not allowed to update the IOS on the switch. Fml2

Customer: "We want you to create a system which stores a huge amount of abstract data, filters it and produces an output with a simple interface"
Me: "Okay no problem, I'll make a MEAN stack system which will give the customer a nice easy to use website"
Customer: "Oh no we want you to write a VBA macro in excel"
Me: "sudo rm -rf /home/me"1
