!rant: Linux Permission Question

I have a PHP Script which creates a directory (777, recursive). Afterwards a Python Script is supposed to do stuff Inside this folder, but the executing user is not allowed to create new stuff although I added this user to www-data group and chmod -R g+s on the whole directory.
My current workaround is to call chmod -R g+w Everytime I create a new folder in PHP.

Does anybody know how to configure this stuff? Thank you :)
