Towards the end of my art degree we were encouraged to setup portfolio sites. Most people used iWeb but I went to a DreamWeaver workshop and built mine and my girlfriend's.
Then I got into WordPress, read some good books and decided to pursue a career in it. Got my masters while working part time as a postman and my first job as a front end dev with a medium sized fintech.
