Good news: Today my app reached 1 million daily users. 😃😃😃💰
Bad news: It started out as a side project and my shitty code is not scaling well at all. 🙃19 -
This is when writing a script that sets up your dev environment pays off...
Having 6 new employees join our startup. The script installs pretty much all dev tools and apps as well as sets up the device management profiles. 😎24 -
Parents:why is my iPad so slow?
Me: It's old (1st gen that came out in 2010)
P:well just clean it up and make it go faster
M:Theres nothing to clean... Theres only a browser app and solitaire....
P: well just fix it so it's faster
M:....... *turns it off and on again*
M: All fixed1 -
Best Part of beeing a dev is that i don't have to dress well at all, sneakers and hoodie are fine, even in meetings :-)4

Going on a vacation, so notify all clients that I won't be available during two weeks.
Client: well we have this huge presentation and here's a list of stuff we absolutely need for it
Me: sure I have a look.
Me: holy shit dude! That's gona take about 2-3 days. I'm leaving soon!
Client: it's realy critical to have them in a week as it's a very important presentation! Is there any way you can make it work? If we can do anything to help, just name it.
Me: well I'll do my best (planed 1 day for such rhings)
Me: *pulling a 15h day*
Me: here, all done budy! Did a 15h but now it's done, so do that presentation!
Client: oh, nice, but it wasn't that urgent
Me: ...
Next day:
Client ssh in to the server, fucks shit up
Client: well I did a thing and now stage and prod is fucked, can you do anything?
Me: (knowing it will take 30min to fix) well... I try my best. Btw. I'll leave in a few hours and won't take my computer, so try not to fuck every thing again, okay? -
Just got this little stinker added to my board this morning….
Ticket Title: Weird shit going on in app
Ticket Description: (blank)
Attachment: <Screenshot of app logo>
Manager: Well what do you think is causing it?
Dev: Causing what?? This ticket doesn’t describe anything at all
Manager: Well it’s a bunch of different things! The ticket is just a high level summary. Now how long do you think it’ll take to fix?
Dev: …16 -
If the below is you, please stop. I'm starting a revolution called #AnswerTheQuestion
A: Hey, just checked your code, you have a huge security issue in XYZ, you should really address that.
B: Oh god I had no idea, how do I fix it?
A: Well it depends on how you *want* to fix it, no one solution is always the right one.
B: ... Ok, well could you give me some advice?
A: Well, there are many ways to approach this kind of work, but all I can say is that this way, is definitely not the correct one.
B: ... Ok, well how would you do it?
A: That would depend on the customer requirements.
B: ... the requirements is to have a website that isn't easily hackable, what do I do?
A: Nowadays, its pretty hard to make a website completely not hackable.
B: ALL THE SERVERS ARE SHOWING RED, PLEASE HELP ME!!!
A: ........ you really shouldn't prejudge colours. The colour red doesn't always mean danger, depends purely on the use case.9 -
Look, PHPVirtualbox, i love you and all and you've worked very well for me for ages.
But, when I see the authentication is successful and you receive an 'OK', YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO THROW A FUCKING "USERNAME OR PASSWORD WRONG" ERROR.
YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO LET ME FUCKING THROUGH.
MOTHERFUCKER.7 -
Everything was going fine in the Interview, then:
Company X's HR: "So if you are selected in both X and Y, which one would you choose 😊?"
Me: 🤔🤔🤔 Long deep thoughts...
HR: "😒 I know your answer is X, But why X 😑?"
Me: Oh.. X! Hmm.. 🤔🤔
Result:
Successfully Rejected
#BeingHonest
Moral:
If you are sitting for X's interview, you have to always choose X with no lag, even if Y= Google.
All well; Ends Well: Placed in Y👍
PS: Here, X, Y and Me are real-life entities.13 -
Being a sysadmin, it's pretty difficult to get around the whole development of front-end stuff.. positioning, scaling, and everything... I hate it. So many ideas but only the ability to make the back-end and if it involves electronics that as well as networking. But building a pretty UI is beyond me... I love hating on all the frameworks and Node, but in all honesty.. front-end people, I kind of envy you 😅6

Still haven't been paid for completed a retail shop project. But all is well, since the system will not start on Black Friday till I remove the if condition 😈9

Manager: Please make that text in plane white.
FullStackClown: Oooo, that's a tough one. What's plane white?
Manager: Are you serious? You literally don't know what the color white is?
FullStackClown: Well sure I know what white is, but I'm not sure what plane white is, there are dozens of airliners, and I'm sure they all have slightly different shades of what they are using for their light color in branding...
Manager: ...
FullStackClown: ...12 -
*Makes joke in dev community*
RandomGuy: "well actually, that's not correct. The truth is blah blah blah"
Can you please just for like 5mins enjoy the joke and have a laugh?

Irma is coming. And just a few weeks after we move to South Beach full time. Figures.
Anyway, if the storms sweeps us away, remember that I love you all.
Well... most of you.
Ok, like a handful of you.56 -
Mobile app crashed a lot after latest release. Everyone called for a meeting to discuss the issue and find resolutions.
Engineering lead for backend team: well part of our problem is we haven’t had time to test everything fully. Maybe product could give us a list of all the features that can’t go down and we’ll prioritize those for testing?
Product: ... ... ... all of them?
Me: laughing hysterically while on mute2 -
First tor relay is up and running. Works well, all good.
Want a faster one as well (nearly 1gbs) and trying to set it up but the control port won't get its fucking ass up. No clue what's going wrong :/
Probably missing something but idk what.
Grrrrrr.15 -
For those of you retards that post shit like:
"fuck"
"well I hate this"
or similar shit that only you understand in the hopes that someone goes and asks you what is wrong: fuck off with that attention seeking bullshit.
Seriously, even it your shit is tech dev related, just fucking post it you attention seeking shitstain.
Or fuck off all together from the app to begin with.14 -
Never thought I will be hired by Chinese software/hardware company located in NYC to code in languages I don't know so well. Instead of lying and saying I know everything about C, PHP and SQL, I said that I suck pretty much at everything, but I'm a quick learner and will study day and night to catch up with their practices. Now I see they have no regret about me, but I still suspect them in hiring me because there is another guy who is Russian too and we all communicate well. Our current squad is 17 Chinese, 2 Russians, 1 Americans. Guess what, I learn Mandarin quicker than PHP. Sometimes a small lie is OK, but sometimes honesty is better.3

Client: How's our B2B data lookup platform coming along?
Me: All done, your clients can now search by first/last name as well.
Client: I just search "fuck" as first name and 5 results came up, our data is not cleaned up properly.
Me: Fuck
Client: Fuck2 -
Me: well guys, after the 4th attempt and a week of waiting, I’ve gotten a response from the remote backend team about the errors affecting this release. Which are the same issues affecting the last release 2 months ago. The findings are: “there is in fact some issue with the API”.
I’d like to thank everyone who put in so much effort to get us to this momentous step forward. We can expect a fix any year now.
*equally sarcastic colleague on another team listening in*:
oh wow, this months long thing has just been “some issue” all this time? Well that’s fantastic. You should mark the ticket as “done” and reply “thank you” for all their hard work.
..... I laughed so hard at how ridiculous all this is and the joke, that I nearly did, hoping someone from product/business would have to review it1 -
I really like my little group for this one huge exam project we have. Everyone's nice, ambitious, takes the project seriously, responsible and communicates well. Additional bonus is we're all on the same skill level so everyone's learning and nobody is dragging a huge load alone. We've had no issues so far and despite being fairly early in the project we're making good progress all around. Is this what a stress-free experience feels like? Pretty happy with the project in general and I think our app idea is pretty cool too.22

Was it it with clients and wanting to restrict the height of webpages?
Client: Can you make it all fit on the screen?
Me: What this particular screen?
Client: Well all screens, some people might not realise there is more content.
Me: What if the screen is tiny?
Client: make it smaller
Me: What if you add more content to it?
Client: Hmm, your the developer.
Me: Teeny tiny text coming right up.18 -
Trying to setup server monitoring for one server (will deploy it on all my servers once this works well).

at a recent interview:
🕴️ interviewer: are you familiar with PHP?
Jr Me 👶: well I'm currently studying it but I thought this was a front end position? I'm looking to work with js, sass and UI design.
🕴️: Well PHP is frontend and we are working with it in our CMS.
👶:... *Getting weird WordPress flashbacks*.. I think I'll continue looking but thanks for your offer.
Later that day I checked if their websites have wp-login.php and woop de fucking doo... It does.. as well as all their clients sites..
Dodging bullets like the freaking Choose one! Ps. Second time this happens.. gotta start checking this before going to the interview..6 -
I actually like Microsoft these days. Despite developing on Mac machines, we use VSTS for code repo, build/release pipelines and work item tracking, and Azure for all things cloud. It all works incredibly well together and at low cost.
Microsoft has changed ethos massively in the last few years. In my opinion, the classic dev mantra of “Microsoft is shit and evil, Linux is flawless” is outdated and getting kind of boring.6 -
Finding a bug as a developer: "Fuck..." *start working on an undocumented hotfix that breaks other parts of the application"
Finding a bug as a tester: "Yeah, right.." *start writing a comprehensive report including all possible failure scenarios and how world famine will increase and men develop boobs if this bug is shipped into production"
Finding a bug as a PM: "Well, the other parts work, right ?" *click randomly on nearby buttons and input fields to "check" if everything is all right. Ditch said report from tester*3 -

New spin on the Manager / Dev format!
Recuiter: WE NEED AN ABSOLUTE NODE EXPERT, NODE NODE NODE, WE LOVE NODE! WHAT IS YOUR NODE EXPERIENCE?!?!
Dev: Well I've had exposure to it since it was nearly new, all the way back in 2012, and since my professional career started about 7 years ago I've used it fairly often on a per-project basis.
Recruiter: WELL HAVE YOU BEEN USING IT DAILY FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS!?!
Dev: Well no, as I said I've used it for specific projects... anyway, there are these things called weekends...
Recruiter: WELL WE ONLY WANT NODE ZOMBIES SO SORRY.
Dev: Thanks for reaching out and wasting my time.
Recruiter: ...
Dev: ...
God recruiters are like robots, don't they understand senior-level engineers are language agnostic?6 -
One time in a job interview I got asked a very softball question.
"what is the difference between .net framework and .net core?"
"well not much these days. there's a few APIs that didn't get ported over. but even winforms and that are available now. essentially it's the same experience when you're writing c# or whatever"
"ok but like, what's the biggest difference?"
"well the config files are different..."
"yeah but like the main difference?"
"uh... well there's a cli for .net core. it's not tied to visual studio anymore"
"ok. moving on..."
GODDAMMIT JOSH ALL YOU HAD TO SAY WAS CROSS PLATFORM
This interaction still keeps me up at night.6 -
Client asks for website and budget very low and wants a form with dB. Think WordPress site is a solution. Build site.
Deliver site.
Client's IT team unable to deploy on server. They blame me for bad "code".
I have to go to their office and help them deploy on local machine using WAMP.
2 days and 100s of calls later, website installed on test server. Works fine.
All is well1 -
People commenting in google play like "this app is bad, crashing all the time". Well, there is a report button over there, maybe you can help me to solve problems instead of whining?2

I seriously wanna fucking knofe this guy who says JS is shit and Kotlin is superior well NEWS FLASH YOU FLYING PIECE OF WANK, every fucking language has its pros and cons
If you still think JS is supposed to be in browser well I say to you fucktard this isnt the 80s anymore and we ain't using Java applets and Flash for some limp dicked stuff JS has covered today. A language might have its dark sides but they are all fucking good. There is no superiour language there's only Mother fucking preference. I swear to god this is the worse limp dicked argument I've heard and I have to argue that JS has matured over the years11 -
Windows: Would you like me to give all your data to MS or somewhat less data?
Me: Well .. I guess .. I'll choose the Basic option..
Windows: Here is a fun fact .. I'll send all the data regardless of your choice :)
This is what's happening in the background, I think. I mean there isn't even a phuqing option to turn this thing off.19 -
YAY.... fuck you Belkin!
Just found out my router is vulnerable to CVE-2017-14491.
For all you not following these issues, this one allows the attacker to intercept connections and perform a traffic hijack, or execute arbitrary code with unrestricted privileges as well as access all important and private data stored on the device aka: the devices login/password, the Wi-Fi passwords, and configuration data just by sending malformed DNS packets to the device.
Now this is all well and good, except Belkin haven't released firmware since 2013, which is strange... seeing how the damn thing was "NEW" out of the box in 2016.
Last time i buy a fucking router from these lousy assholes. -
Just stumbled upon this channel of a woman called Jeri Ellsworth.. turns out that she's interested in HAM radio. This is something that I'm personally interested in as well, and seeing how the community here seems to have a keen interest in electronics, I figured that I might want to put it out there. After all, knowledge is to be shared :)
Also she's apparently self-taught as well which I think is really impressive. That's what - to me at least - separates the "I do it just for the money" people from the genuinely interested ones, and the spoonfed bunch from the curious few.

Being under 1000 rep on stackoverflow is elo hell. All you get are downvotes for non-duplicate, sensible and well explained questions. I think most of SO community is pretty fucking toxic towards people trying to learn programming.11

Maybe it's old and well known, but somebody asked, so here it goes:
A shepherd is quietly grazing his sheep on the fresh village pastures.
Suddenly a shiny new car stops by. A cool guy, very well dressed hops out and asks him: "Good man, If I guess exactly how many sheep you have, can I win one?"
The shepherd, puzzled, accepts.
The cool guy, opens his laptop, download a satellite picture of the area, run a NASA algorithm for image recognition and in few seconds answers "you have 1342 sheep"
"Wooow" says the shepherd "you won, take one"
The cool guy is about to live when the shepherd approaches him:
"Ehi, Young man, I bet all my flock against your car that I can guess what is your job"
The cool guy, (he likes to bet after all) accepts.
"You are a consultant" says the shepherd.
"WTF! how did you even..."
"Well, easy" says the shepherd "you came out of nowhere, well dressed and smart looking, you answered a question nobody asked you, you told me something I already knew, you want to be payed for that and in addition, you don't understand shit about my business."
"Now", adds quietly the shepherd "please, give me back my dog"

Arch Linux is so overrated. Just a little while ago I did pacman -Syu and dhcpcd broke. Bleeding edge is all fine with me, but at least MAINTAIN THE FUCKING DISTRO PROPERLY!!!
Well, guess I'll have to redeploy that LXC with a different OS then. Probably Ubuntu Server or something like that.14 -

Hey! How do I do machine learning?
Well first you start off with a metric shit ton of data.
And then you .fit() your data
from there you can .predict() your data
Trust me, the algorithms are already there. All you need to do is get the data.7 -
Okay this is it; FUCK java on android. You need so many fucking workarounds, its insane. Im tryna merge to bmps together, one on top, and the helper class is at 400 lines already and its only kinda working. If you gonna abstract things away, then fucking abstract them well (ocaml) or not at all (c).16

That slow realization that you're hitting burnout due to the toxicity of those in non-technical roles above you is wild. Also, Jira, Scrum, Sprints and all the extra bullshit can fuck right off as well.3

Glassdoor is the perfect example of how annoying, even just opening a website can be, first it asks for your permission to use your location, then half the screen is filled with a cookie agreement and after you clicked it all away, you get a "download our app" filling just 30% of your screen, now that you clicked that all away, you may use the website, ludicrous.
edit: well fuck, just noticed the app message glitched away when taking the screenshot, you get the idea though6 -
"let's quickly compile php by hand and get php-fpm running!"
All is compiled well but I can't, for the love of what-the-fuck-ever figure out how to load extensions within the configuration and the internet isn't helping out much either.
How fucking difficult can this be?!17 -
Now that I am coding for money, the motivation to learn and build new things is gone. It has become all about money for me now. I get tired after coding all day and I can’t open my personal laptop to learn new things and do some more.. well.. coding.
Will I ever get that motivation back? Because I have some good ideas in my mind. Just can’t seem to start working on those ideas.8 -
Many people told me that all my face expressions look pretty the same. Whatever my mood (angry, happy, surprised) there is no much difference that appears in my face.
Well I didn't believe them until I tested a "Facial Emotion" program written on Python, and it gives me ~almost~ all the time that my facial expression is: Neutral.
Well, I think the algorithm is not well implemented 😐8 -
Meetings... They say coding is 70% thinking and well.. I find meetings to be a great place to think about what am currently working on. I go in with a sketch book and sketch away. I always figure out whatever is bugging me by the end of the meeting. After all the PM will send a summary of whatever I may have missed during the meeting

Manager: "well why not?"
HOW DO YOU GET PAID MORE THAN US2 -
Shit will hit the fan pretty soon. We're understaffed, the team is all talking about jumping ship and all other teams rely on our work, so if we jump ship, it sinks. It's really amazing that management is unaware or choosing to actively ignore the possibility. Either way, they're fucking up big time. Honestly, if it happens, it will be well deserved, it just sucks for everyone else working under them4

"I don't want to offend you but well clearly you're not an artist. "
From the client i tell repeatedly "Web design is not my strong point so if there is a design you want we should bring on a designer"

Basic OOPS Question -
A unit of computer information that contains data as well as all the procedures or operations is called:
(1) A method.
(2) Encapsulation.
(3) An object.
(4) An OOP
(5) None of these
This question is a bit confusing to me.. what do you guys think? 🙄19 -
Well in America, developer is the current "hot" career if you wanna make bank and rightly so, you can make a great salary. However the "business types" politicize the position since it's trendy right now and do all sorts of undesirable things like looking for "10x" or "rockstar" devs, etc. It's really just an excuse to have you on call 24/7. Some jobs, you go home, but you never really clock out of work. Well, if you even make it home; you could end up always travelling for your work.
But at least it's a romanticized and well paid position, unlike system admin, who may work the same hours but will never have the "cool" job.7 -
All is well until one of the interviewers starts dropping questions like:
- Where do you see yourself in x years
- What gets you out of bed every day
etc.
that give you some nice mid interview existential dread.4 -
It worked! After all those years I've talked someone into linux'ising all theit workstations :) now that someone is eventually convinced it would solve most of the problems. Now they are collecting all the bau requirements. Next - testing phase. And then, if all works out well - reinstalling 100+ workstations with linux :)
yayyy9 -
So I duel boot because I need Ubuntu for some things and Windows for others. (I run some robot sims that don't play well with VM)

Good news is I have all the important stuff backed up to git.
Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend.1 -
I really don't get all the Musk fans. I mean, sure you can find some value in Tesla or SpaceX, sure you can think theses companies are truly innovating. But why give all the credit to the rich businessman who seems to spent more time promoting himself than really working on science stuff, and not to all the ingeneers and creatives who are really putting some hard work on every day ? All Musk is really doing is running a business. He seems to do that pretty well, agreed, but after all it's "just" that: business. He's not the genius, nor the creative. He has money and invests it well, that's all.
I don't get why so many people give all the credit to him, even here on devrant where it should be logical to find more people supporting the real brains behind the tech.
"He has a vision about the future, he's imaginative..."
- Well that's bullshit.
Once again: he has money, a lot, and a certain skill about how to invest it (and about doing some proper marketing too), which companies to buy, etc. That don't make him such a great visionary about the future of the human being, just a great businessman. I'm sure you can find millions of people around the world with better ideas about the future, but they're not in his position. They're not rich, they're not CEOs, they're mostly unknown.
Stop follow the stream by glorifying businessmen just because medias are talking lot about them. Instead, know where the real talent (and work) is. Give credit to Musk employees, not to him.54 -
I spent the last weeks rewriting a huge project which I had to hurriedly write a year ago. No comments, no documentation, spaghetti code. Part me was an asshole! But now I am done, all is new, everything is well commented, structured in classes with well defined tasks. Yay.2

Well SO blocked me from asking any more questions. Which is BS because I went back and edited my questions as I was told to.
Ohh well, I figured I would just make a new account. So I logged out. Put in a new email. Filled out all the forms confirmed my email and then I see "You cannot ask questions" WTH? Appentally it cached my browser, so when I signed back up it linked my two accounts together..
Well, looks like I'm making a new email..6 -

Reading a Ray Wenderlich book to try give RxSwift a go. Book is well written and going well. But I’m grinding my teeth at the fact all the code samples use 2 space indentation. Despite the fact apples standard is 4 ... and you know tabs would let us decide.
I know it’s a small thing, but it’s really pissing me off3 -
Why do people mix JS vanilla with framework syntax? That's horrible.
Why do people use jQuery anyways? There's no need at all anymore. It is just dumb JS for dumb devs.
Did that trigger you? - well....7 -
I'm absolutely fed up with all documentation being tutorial-based these days! Well written documentation doesn't start with you creating a new project from scratch.
This is basically how all of Microsoft's documentation starts: Step 1 - Open Visual Studio. Step 2 - Create a new project...
I just checked out their WPF samples repository, and about 8 of the projects won't even compile. Absolutely ridiculous. There's 205 projects in the repository, and of course the one I need is on the list of those that won't compile.1 -

It's nice when a great new idea you have is fairly easy to implement and works well.
My latest idea involves running my discord bot, written in nodejs off of my phone using a terminal app (that doesn't require rooting my phone).
Once I got a branch of the project with no voice support, I wrote a bash script in vim on my phone (an odd experience, I assure you) and ran it.
Things have been working well, far better than trying to use PhoneGap to build something that would run it.
All in all, I'm pretty satisfied, and it was a fun and relatively painless project! (thankfully)10 -
Well, here is another Intel CPU flaw.

I am a Windows person. I always argue how great it is.
Well, not today.
I was today years old when I learned that you CANNOT uninstall store app via store ;p You need to go to settings / apps and functionality / your app / uninstall
The photo app (Yes the one bundled with win10) doesn't work if you use Hard drive compression AND it is a symlink for OneDrive (So you don't need to keep all photos on the drive). Fucking Paint works without problems.
Email client : If you alt+tab too fast after hitting 'Send email", there is 50% chances that email won't be send. Basiclly you need to hit "send" and wait until you see it in "sent" folder.
Well, as i'm ranting, here for Linux too :
I have a small ubuntu server VM, worked very well for last 6 months. Now "System in read only mode". Fucking apt-get upgrade fucked with something. I don't want to look, so I'll just rebuild a fresh vm.
And macOS should take sometyhing too : Who the fuck decided "enter" is for editing the name of file ?! really !
Well, ALL os are shit, all have downsides, I need my own OS. But I still want AA games... So windows for me.25 -

Is it just me, or is the rants longing for stickers and balls (sounds vaguely euphemistic) becoming just a bit too common?
I love some good stickers as much as the next guy, but wouldn't it be more fun to have them for something more, well, rant-y?
But by all means, keep ranting about what you think about, I love all of it.3 -
dad: yeah sure , that's why no laptop is working well in this house

Boss: we need to standardize the CMS we use.
Me: well 90% of what we build are custom Wordpress deployments...
Boss: yeah but Wordpress is best suited for all our clients.
Me: well yeah, I know...we could use Django or Rails and give the clients more customized solutions...
Boss: yeah but not all of our developers know those frameworks, and they require maintenance...
Me: -_- we could really use Jekyll for most sites we build
Boss: yeah, but what about our clients that want a blog?
Me: ...we can build a blog with anything...
Boss: ...we just need to standardize what we use. -

Taken partly from an article I just read.
Russels paradox is a problem discovered by Bertrand Russel in 1901 when studying set theory.
He describes a set that contains all sets which do not contain themselves. The set of all pornstars does not contain itself for example, so it can be include in Russel's set, as well as many others.
But what about Russel's set itself? It doesnt contain itself so shouldnt it be included as well? But that would mean it DOES include itself which means it DOESNT belong to the set. And it would keep switching like this, monotonically, forever. Hence the paradox.
If it is monotonic then where we begin in the sequence doesnt matter. So lets do away with that bugbear.
Now if russels set IS the set of all sets that dont contain themselves then we get a paradox.
However if russels set merely *has* as a single subset, all sets that dont contain themselves, then shouldnt russel's set with one level of indirection, contain itself?15 -

Yesterday, I wrote that Paypal password reset is kinda broken.
Well, today I found out that they have limitation to 20 chars in password and, if you paste longer one, input field will accept only 20 and rest is gone. And all that happens without warning. I mean, you can see only 20 dots, but who is counting password dots?2 -
My favorite home-written script is `sudo thermonuke` which basically kills all the proliferation of Chrome tabs I've opened, as well as kills every other app I leave open on my desktop carelessly. It's a bit brash, but nuke and pave baby. Nuke and pave.2

2 other "devs" in charge of a simple website.
Literally, static pages, a login/registration, and a dump of data when users are logged in.
Took on writing the api for the data as well, since I didn't fully trust the other 2.
Finished api, soldered all electronics, 3d printed models.
Check on the website.
Ugly af, badly written html and css.

The battery of my good old Huawei Y300 is slowly dying. So I thought it was time to cut the battery consumption a little. What a delusion. A new battery costs < $5 btw, but I'm too lazy to order :)
I've tested 16 highly acclaimed (of about 20,000, didn't count all of them) battery apps - they're all!, and I mean all!, total crap. There is not a single app that does what it promises. And all totally fucked up with advertising - including some of the paid apps. Most apps consume more power than they actually save.
The winner of all this shit was the app "Battery Repair", which supposedly repairs broken cells. Well, well.
All that junk should be thrown out of the store. But, no, these crap apps have ratings of 4.5 - 4.8 with millions of downloads. I don't get it.
The only app that actually works is, hard to believe, Kaspersky Battery Saver.
So if someone else wants to "optimize" their battery - forget it, it's not even worth looking for it.8 -

I saw the asstard just wrote his roles on his screen. Appearently he is a lead UX, and a senior Frontend developer. So just opened Twitter at work to see Dark souls remastered is a thing... Instantly though "here we go, a $100 rerelease capped at 30FPS on console, oh well still getting it", went to EB games and read the description for the Xbox edition, running at 60FPS and for $60 AUD.... Dear all AAA developers...
THIS IS HOW YOU DO A REMASTER!!!!
Up the frame rate to 60 if previously capped at 30, upgrade textures and charge a reasonable amount for it!
Well done Bandai!3 -

Fuck me I'm pissed. This sprint, my tech lead has been away and a senior dev has been covering for him. We plan a load of work and distribute stories and we churn threw it quite well. However, my senior dev says let's not deploy until all the works done. I was like, how is it going to be tested? He was like well it will be fine because it's all one test. Bs. We now have 2 days left, tester is getting stressed because they don't know what to test or what's been finished. Scrum master is asking why all of it should be tested at the same time and I'm here like this is fucking dumb. Also the tester decided to start testing with the most complex piece of work, rather than prioritising.
Starting to wonder if I'm just the outsider or whether no one understands that granularity is better.2 -
Today I implemented a system for storing all errors in a global store in Vue. That means field validation errors, API errors and potential generic errors. It works really well, and displaying an error is as simple as referencing it's source, if any. Flexibility at its finest.

All I am asking for is a debugger in Xcode that works as well as Macintosh Programmer's Workshop ( MPW) circa 80's/90's. Maybe I am being unreasonable?
I stepped a line in the debugger and all the variables disappear... and all I get is the spinny "fuck you" indicator and the variables all disappear.
But here is the worst part... Apple isn't holding any of those fucktards on the Xcode team accountable for producing a shit product.
I'm really glad I don't have to do this as a full time job anymore. Then why do I continue to pound nails with my forehead (use Xcode)?
Whip me, beat me, make me use Xcode...5 -

So looking at React/Node and all the GitHub projects etc. It seems JS/Node is the current/next big language like Java, C++. Runs on everything, can build anything with it, and is well supported.

Well. I'm simply SO UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE PISSED RIGHT NOW!! {>,,,<}
I'm implementing a monolithic frontend that embeds different projects which I don't want to alter if not really necessary. So I put them all into iframes, already handled all the security and auth stuff with proxies and so on and now I just want to access the body.scrollHeight property. Which is not even the probelm at all.
The fucking Problem is, that I just can't find a way to hook into any event which fires when all content is loaded and the final scrollHeight is set. Instead it just returns some default value that is set when the iframe element is loaded, but not something that is actually based on it's damn ass-fucking contents!!
Iframes are fucking pricks and I know I'll gonna go to hell for abusing them like this :Srant i'm feeling bad about it this is so wrong i hate iframes i hate cross-site-scripting just pissed as fuck2 -
Last few months have been quite calm. Nothing to really rant about. The egocentric asshole PM (see my past rants) left the company, so things have been better at work. I thought that there would be so much chaos because of all the roles that he had (project manager, engineering manager, lead developer, dev ops) but we managed to keep things running smoothly, which shouldn't have been a surprise for me, but I was a bit scared at first. Relieved, because well... the egocentric asshole left, but a bit scared either way. Anyway, everything has been fine. I'm pretty much the lead frontend developer now, even tho there's no official structure or hierarchy, everyone just keeps looking up to me for help and guidance. I've received a good pay raise. Work has been interesting and challenging. All's well.
This all coincided with me deciding to take a little break from devrant, and the lack of ranting material kept me from coming back. I just dropped by to say hello and check how devrant is going. I hope you are all doing well :)3 -
I wrote three posts for a tech writing website - all of which were well researched, well formatted, and I figured, pretty relevant to most people working in software, right
The website decides hmm, we won't promote the posts at all - no retweets, nothing. So they all get about 100 views each within the first few days. Sad.
Meanwhile, one article written in basically BULLET POINTS gets pinned to the frontpage, and another article written in the most pajeet English I have ever seen containing factually wrong information (HTML is not a fucking programming language) gets retweeted and publicized and ends up with thousands of views
Why even fucking bother11 -
What a nice day. We've been working on this for the past few hours. All we need is just one PCI-E extender. Well, halfway through, there was one tiny cable from 12V rail touching something else. Result: one probably dead GTX 10605

I found out today that my company is going to make a huge deploy to implement non-binary genders on our platform, well, they see woman as 0 and man as 1 (insurance company), and they make calculations with the NUMBER, like, value = gender x risk.. The funny part is that this way to interpret gender is going to be awesome when the "2" be deployed, the non-binary genders.. well, fuck, all calculations will be refactored (20 years of development)4

Hello world,
at my current job at a "big company" our development process sucks, something is on fire at all times, there are hundreds of dependency issues, it's so bad that I'm struggling to find motivation.

So, most (if not all) modern operating systems sync their time with some trusted source (like the Internet) right? Windows included. All is well.
When your Windows 10 computers are joined to a domain, it thence relies on your local neighborhood domain controller to tell it the time. Sounds good, since domain controllers Never Go Down, right? All is well.
Services are all being cloud-ified, which means virtual machines. The domain controllers have suffered this fate, but everything is smooth and buttery. All is well.
Wait, the VM's clock is running slow. Uh oh....
Wait, isn't it supposed to ask the Internet?
Well, no. Domain Controllers decide that They Know All, and stop asking the Internet for its opinion.
This causes problems, but only ever so slowly, and it took me noticing all the computers seemed to be ten minutes slow compared to my phone (and well everyone else's phone) to realize what had happened.
Thanks, Windows...9 -
https://techcrunch.com/2020/06/...
Yet another tool to "empower" management into thinking they are able to do in days what takes engineers years to accomplish.
All this is going to do is create technical debt for developers to consume when management is promoted for a "job well done".

Why is there no VueJS job requirements in my area? It is all about Angular and React. Quite sad my favorite JS Framework is not a favorite here.

For all things, for all men, that a man compliments a thing does not imply that this man at least attempts to understand this thing. However, for all men, that a man criticises a thing implies that this man at least attempts to understand this thing.
For all computer programs, that a computer program is terrible implies that scrapping the current implementation of this computer program and beginning anew may be the best method of fixing this computer program.
With few exceptions, for all programming languages $l$, given sufficient effort, $l$ source code can be human-readable.
The UNIX philosophy never became outdated.
For all computer programs $p$, $p$ should be written sufficiently well that the author of $p$ can be prideful of $p$.
For all computer programs $p$, a specification for $p$ should be written before $p$ is created.
For all good computer programs, a good computer program can run on terrible hardware.
Every clock cycle is valuable.8 -

OK, we all hate Gates, Elon or LTT for some reason. All heroes in my eyes. Ok, I do cringe at some LTT stuff, especially when about Linux.

Don't get me wrong WIT is amazing and I am all for it. Gender isn't even a factor for me working in dev.
The thing I don't enjoy is being vilified for being a male in tech. I feel like I'm the bad guy.11 -
It's so frustrating, how people don't want to pay well for services and all, but what's more frustrating is that I don't even know how much to ask for most times! 😥
-
It's been long. How have you been guys ? Life is pretty fucking shit right now. Hope you all are doing well.6

I work out of HQ office of my org and perhaps the only one from my team.
My boss will be working out of this office as well.
He is currently visiting, before he relocates full time.
I have my first in-person meeting with him. I am super anxious and want to avoid it at all cost.5 -
Finally got the opportunity to work as fullstack more oriented to backend as a side gig and I fucking love it.
Now I can say with all my heart that I hate my main frontend job and designers so much. I hate every small task like:
- change this arrow
- change this button
- change this color
- well this is not accessible.
- well this doesn't pass contrast check ( as if this is my fucking job and not the stupid fuck designer who mixes up colors )
Now I'm just trying to consider a reconversion and git gud .1 -
So I've been getting a lot of attention from various companies ranging from small tech start ups, to big established companies. I've had a lot of interviews that all went really well! So some weeks passed, and I have no feed back from any companies, so I proceed. I eventually get an offer from one company that is really good. They day i accepted it, I received about 4 other offers from all the other companies! And I got about 5 interviews to now decline! Murphy's law at is cruellest!1

I honestly thought spending a full vacation away (fifteen days) from a certain platform would make it feel better to use. As If I was overreacting due to fatigue. Maybe that platform is not slow :you are tired.
Back to work, code and design in a satisfactory time, all is well. Except until building. That. Took. Five. Minutes. THIRTY.
Yeah, Xamarin ios still is a raging bullshit. -
Please, dear god, is there a browser extension to answer all these shitty cookie/data storage/privacy popups with MY SPECIFIC ANSWER?
As a web dev I understand that websites need cookies, and as a tech company employee I understand that essential cookies as well as functional cookies are okay-ish (most of the time). I just don't want marketing cookies/tracking.
All those extensions just block the popup or block all cookies. This is not what I want!
And why the hell on earth didn't they come up with one single solution for all websites beforehand, so we dont have 6.388.164.341 different popups/bars/notifications/flyouts/drop-ins/overlays???
THIS. IS. JUST. ANNOYING.
Thank you for your attention.6 -
yesterday wrote a huge part of logic. a colleague from other continent said there is a bug. sent me request data, server logs, but I couldn't find what's wrong yesterday.
today I arrived at work and checked it another time and it doesn't work.
"well, maybe he is not that retarded after all!"2 -
5 hours for 6 lines of code. Math is awesome and stuff, but translating matlab code into python and then extending it without knowing what it does (so you have to understand it first), well, is sometimes exhausting.
But after all this time I am so happy that it works and that I fully understand all the math behind it. And now I have to compare it to the other 6 methods I created for this task.. Yay.1 -
There is a deal on udemy for black Friday, all courses are 9.99€ in case anyone cares, I know it's really popular among devs.
I got one for unreal engine and one for python machine learning - they are well taught so far.5 -
Not a rant
What do you all use for taking notes? Preferably something that handles code well and is cloud based (or can be dumped into it)6 -
One of my coworkers uses two monitors (as well as all the other devs), but one of them is always displaying the desktop, with a big gospel wallpaper.1

My Samsung (well, "TSSTCorp", but) drive just shredded a DVD+R DL when trying to burn it.
Fucking fantastic, that was my last one as well. DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-* is all fine, DVD+R DL? Fucked. I gotta take my drive apart to pull the plastic shavings out later.
Fuck me...3 -
The moment, when you just about start a demo on your project and the code is not working at all, is pretty awkward. What makes it worse is that even the master branch is useless. The good thing is that noone noticed it, since the demod feature worked well.1

Started work on a language interpreter and all is going well, until I realise I still need to implement a way of reading and executing code blocks and work out if statements... Ah fuck...11

We all know that node_modules is the heaviest folder in the whole universe, right?
Weel now that I'm starting to use ionic and cordova I get to use them for apps as well, not only websites!
Fuck my life, seriously7 -
GitHub Actions. That is all.
Well, not really. Trying to convert a grunt script which we have packaging our WordPress plugins to be done as a GitHub action instead and I'm about to throw my machine out of the window.5 -
My bandwidth is ordinarily a few hundred kbps, but whenever I torrent it can reach up to 2 mbps, while all other traffic from me and my housemates is stuck in the single digit kbps range.
What does BitTorrent do so fucking well, and how can other protocols replicate this success? Would the total available bandwidth be different if every protocol did whatever enables BitTorrent to summon bandwidth from thin air?10 -
That moment when you've been slaving away after hours and before work and you decide to push all your local code (at least only the last week's worth) to BitBucket. But because everything you know about Android Development and SourceTree is self taught you manage to delete not only your online repository but all your local code as well. fml6

So I got offered 85k job in NYC. The interviews went well and they were impressed with all my answers. Now here's the deal.
I have 2 years of good software development experience in.my home country and then moved to USA for further studies. Now graduated this May.
Not sure if 85k(including all perks) is the right amount ? Or negotiate it to make it 90k...5 -
!rant
Well, today I wake up, zombie like and I was searching throw all the new notifications on the phone...
To my surprise, a company that had interviewed me in December want to call me tp see my actual profesional status (which is a fucked up one tbh xD) because the got a great feedback at the interview and wanted to check on me again.
I will tell you how this end, I hope well (I need a job :_( )
Now I am nervous ><2 -
That moment where the client and the project are ticking all the boxes: he's competent and you know working with him will be pleasant enough, the project is interesting and you've already picked node.js, it's well paid and you've already mentally spent the money.
Oh wait no! I wanted to talk about the moment right after, the one where you're told that this dll you NEED to use is in VB6!2 -
Curious, do the Recent and Top feeds show all posted rants, or is it different for each person as well?10

Immutability is nice and all, but there are languages and tasks where it really doesn't work as well as it should.

The mainland US is currently record-cold for overall, some states are as low as -70°F. 3/4 of US schools are closed. Except mine. It's -15°F here, coldest ever, and we're open. God forbid it flurries, though, then it's impossible to open the school!
My dad grew up in Alaska, so he thinks we're all pussies. Well... it's currently 37° in Anchorage, so it's warmer there than ANY mainland state!!! And we're all "pussies".

Fri-damn-day is here in next 4 hours, prototype is to be delivered before 5 pm, 3 big core functionalities are yet to be made , all code is hanging by the null checks due to leaking firebase callbacks and all comes down to this intern who has been giving 19 hours every day to this project for last full week.
Well, bring it on!! I am about to gloriously fail (unless i code some miraculous code that i don't even know how), but i have never been this much motivated to work or received this much support by seniors ;)2 -
Well it says favorite tool, that would have to be vim. Close second is everything jetbrains ever made including Kotlin. Most useful would probably be git. Where would we all be without git?

ipfs decentralizes the internet.
No governments blocking a website anymore.
Fast file transfers inside local networks.
Secured and authenticated data.

I just want to rant now. Is the limit between rants still enforced? I hope so, I am afraid that I start complaining, I will just not stop. I've been holding up so much by now. Well whatever, I've got used to not complaining for so long, that I just lost all desire to rant.3

When a client’s website is about how he’s an expert at fixing his customers’ psychological problems, and he’s got those same problems and isn’t managing them well at all himself, you just
1. Build site.
2. Get check.
3. Don’t ask questions you don’t want the answers to even if you really are curious.1 -
You know it's all good and well but compiling and building opensource software is like falling down a stairway and getting fucked by dependencies and quirky configurations on each step.
Forever...Down one step and down again.1 -
There are few layoffs in my company due to COVID-19 and so now there's 3 times more work then usual per employee and fucking senior manager keeps on threatening that if we don't meet the deadlines, they will get us fired as well!
Have to do overtime every fucking day, also even on weekends, my life has got all ruined and couldn't do anything about it as getting a new job in this time is going to be a pain in the ass as well!7 -
He basically abhorred me because i still have no idea why he abhorred me but honestly I'm glad he did. We never had to work together, but i once tried sparking a conversation thinking let's see maybe he is not all he shows... The conversation ended in 3 seconds... And he was acting all childish ... Oh well... Cheers everybody!

The longer I go at this job, the more I feel unqualified to be doing it!
My boss is giving all these really fascinating ideas and things to get done... but he's not really describing it well on how to do it... just to do it. My creativity is being tested...2 -
Haven't been reading Dilbert for other a month but finally got around to it today. I read it through an app I made that downloads all the comics from the site.
Well apparently the downloader downloaded too much/too fast. It seems my IP is now blocked....
Wonder if it's temporary. O well... I got VPNs... -
Is it me only having to deal with horrible meeting product?
Arch Linux as my base OS, justifies my all-time updated system, NPAPI being deprecated in Firefox, Chrome and have to use Cisco WebEx every Saturdays and Sundays.
Just hate having to return to Windows to make WebEx chrome extension work for the meeting to be possible, and then a CentOS VM running for all the demonstration, explanation and teaching...
Although, IcedTea in Linux makes it possible but oh well it WebEx is still a horrible headache.1 -
Completely fed up today, trying to investigate a memory leak using google chromes profiling tools, first of all all the "documentation" is well out of date so you have to pretty much guess your way through it.
Anyway i start to investigate and it looks like the JS Heap increases in size only after a garbage collection, surely this is the wrong way round or am i just being stupid2 -
Found this on my class's Quizlet group for the web design test.

Merry Christmas! -
Well, since the only boss that I've ever had is my actual boss, I guess it's him... He is not really my boss because I'm just an intern but whatever... He is friendly but sleeps way too much and he doesn't motivate me at all so I've began counting the day before coming bsck home... And I'm the only dwv in the team (we are 3) and that gives me a lot of pressure...

(slightly off topic) but we had a discussion about a kinder chocolate advert yesterday. The one where "Teddy is very very not very well" I was surprised at how it split the developers. My view was that a 'very' cancels out 'not very' leaving teddy 'very well'. The alternative view was each 'very' increments the 'not very' status.
I just thought I'd throw that out there for you all!7 -
Question about managing git branches.
For releases, we branch develop (the main branch) into a release.version branch in which we bump the version and do any last minute bug fixes for issues found in testing.
After the release we need it back into the main branch as well as master.
But also we keep the branch as well in case we need it such as for a hotfix release.
Is keeping it right though?
General issue on my team I feel is nobody deletes their feature branches after they are done and merged into the main branch. I think there is a feature in most Repos where it can auto delete these branches when a PR is merged.
And well branches themselves (at least the HEAD) are sort of just bookmarks. All commits can be accessed by their hash and basically is a full snapshot of all the commits that upto that point that it was based off of?
So you could just tag the last commit in the release branch with release.version and delete the branch itself? And that I think is the correct, normal way?
Not sure how to explain this to my boss or team as they aren't big on technical details...9 -
[Rust] What are alternatives to argument drilling for something like a string interner which is technically a memory leak so it really shouldn't be global but at the same time all but a couple top level functions depend on its existence? I'm aware of context objects and that's all ChatGPT could give me as well, but I'm wondering if there's more to this problem than that.1

Guys, Im here again to tell you this, you will laugh.
*Stand up meeting*
FE: well we should think a way to test all (he says that because he doesnt test so my tests+ END-TO-END and he can get away with that)
...because IM TOO LAZY TO TEST MY STUFF.
VP ENGINEER: "is it because it's too good that has no bugs? HAHAHAHA (bro laugh type)
ME: O_0 (thinking u better fucking test SOAB) Well, we should have tests in front end, and end to end. THE PYRAMID GUYS?1 -
Hey, I actually calculated and averaged everything, and I found out I only spend about 43.4 repeating percent of my time awake actually working.
Can you all calculate yours as well to see if I’m a lazy slob or if this is normal?7 -
Me, enables SSL on one domain with cloudflare all went well, even added origin ssl all good.
Friends domain, set up the right and same way, but server says no i have no idea what www.examaple.com is, ... I never created a key for that wtf so right now website are dead .. thanks cf3 -
Thought it had been a while since my last Arch redo. Now the fsck output is hundreds of pages long and I'm grateful for my backups, and all suspiciously occuring just seconds after a full upgrade. I guess hardware failure is a possibility, but the smart status on the drive says it's perfect and dozens of retrospective self tests didn't reveal any issues. RAM passed multiple tests as well. Oh well, not like I haven't reinstalled before.

All these things work so well
Why is anyone doing poorly anywhere ?
Could you imagine if we had to do this all by hand ??8 -
Well, that is a record. 11 minutes into work and I already want to choke slam whoever wrote this shell script. I am looking for someone older than dirt because they used ` ` instead of $(). And now I am going to have to change group GIDs for 3 groups times 500 machines. They all need to match and are ALL different. FML

Network Support is the worst place to work in especially when you done all your work in the first hour. Also, when managers are pain in the ass.
Might as well call it a call centre rather than Service Desk -
First, thank you all very much for the great community!
I am doing a pure/applied math degree, the one which resolves around prooving theorems. I kinda like it but I am pretty bad, I work as a Python dev, not great there as well tho. I use all my days off to study and Im still faiiling most of my exams, can't seem to memorize everything. I feel like next year will slip by as well, i will burn my holidays for uni again and the beat outcome would be a degree in something that I kinda understand, with a thesis that is interesting. There is no career benefit(none expected in first place).
Should I just drop out? Why am I doing this? Would I be doing something better otherwise?3 -
I joined a startup and suddenly all I thought I know was disappearing and a very complex creature fell into my laps asking me to code it. Then there’s these trello cards asking me to pick them up and start solving.
Well, first, no idea how the whole app is structured.
Good thing, have a supportive team for sure. -
So a while ago I was complaining that tonnes of tutorials ignore CLI or alternative build methods like cmake or meson.
Was having trouble getting glew to link statically... Well only months fucking later do I realise that all I needed to do was add -DGLEW_STATIC to my fucking compiler arguments...
Why is past me such a fucking idiot! -

Hey guys. Anyone subscribed to Symfonycasts? It is like Laracasts. Can I download all videos there as well while I'm subscribed to them?

Guessing my rant free streak is over. Trying to connect to a mongo atlas cluster. Just migrated from mlab as mongo Inc is discontinuing the heroku add on.
Migration went well. I can connect to atlas cluster via mongo shell.
Reactive mongo claims it supports dns seed list. I add mongodb+srv connection string. Doesn't work.
I go back to atlas and allow all ips access (migrating staging dB first to make sure all is well so I can whitelist all ips) - > send a request-> mongo error. No primary node is available.
Disconnect from my network, connect to another network, same thing. I push the connection string to my server, test using an ssl connection to make a request, still no primary node available. I am about to lose my mind. -
Well, Halloween or Hallowe'en (a contraction of All Hallows' Evening), also known as Allhalloween, All Hallows' Eve, or All Saints' Eve, is a spooky celebration observed every year in a number of countries on October 31 - the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day, also known as All Saints' Day. In 2017, Halloween falls on a Tuesday

So.. in the AngularJS we had Promises and Deferred objects and in Angular we have RxJS and Observables and Subjects... and I spent last few hours googling for something like "deferred equivalent in angular" with no useful result at all, because, well, "Subject" is not the first damn thing to come to mind when looking for "Deferred" synonyms.. who the hell is making up these names?
It's like "well, since this is a new framework, it should also have completely different(and unrelated) names, so that it does not resemble the old one at all".2 -
Well, I'm done.
This amount of arrogance is unbelieveable.
I'd rather find a warm and friendly atmosphere.
But honestly, what are all these F bombs about?
Did I insult you? I said I was stuck in a Loop challenge in Js. Did this offend you?
If so, I'm sorry.11 -
Anyone else get frustrated by the dust that sits on top of your computer?
Fuck me but I fucking hate this dusty shit, keep cleaning the screen and the keypad but oh well, next time I open there it is - all in its glory.
And there's this fucking constant worry that shit that dust might've gotten inside the laptop and now the performance is gonna fuck up.
SO FUCKING IRRITATING AARGH3 -
iOS/native app devs!
How usual it is for your apps to differ from iOS UI guidelines? Our lead dev always throws a fit when he has to implement custom stuff, but I see popular games “shit all over” these guidelines all the time and do very well in popularity.
As I’m no expert, please tell me if it is generally accepted to not follow these iOS rules / use premade controls 100% of the time, so I know what’s up. Thank you.2 -
OOP is all about code reusability until you really want exactly the code Foo with non-pure functions in all your classes. You end up almost rewriting all subclasses' properties into the superclass to silence typecheckers. Is there no "I know what i'm doing, please just transpile/compile this piece of logic into these 20 places I need?" You end up doing it the functional way, dumping refs and params into some shared util function and have it do the job. I know, might as well have that one inherited also, but what's the point of adding more mess just for that ?2
-
So I just started using the app called Rmabox and it seems pretty useful. Actually I am ranting using the same app. Keeps all my social profiles at one place. But I am concerned about my privacy as well. Is it safe to use such apps which help you to manage all your social accounts at one place? Will that not create a single point of security breach?1

yo so wtf opengl doing over there
all I can find on "APIENTRYP" is that it's "macro magic that makes everything work" but it's breaking fucking everything. I remove it and it works again (well, kinda, i still gotta fix some typing horseshit)
why is opengl in shambles i just wanna compile gdi -
With all the CES nonsense, wouldn't you love it if they didn't make shit smaller and thinner and actually made it the same size as 5 yrs ago. While upgrading battery life and cooling... I see all these new laptops and small form factor pc's and I just think "well there is something to keep me warm in the winter". Priorities people2

Fuck auto insurance
Why is it that every time I need to get a quote online from an insurance company, despite having seemingly well designed websites they all fucking crash!
Half way through the “next” button will stop working for seemingly no reason and I won’t be able to continue with the quote.
Is it just a ploy to get me to call? WTF! -
Omg!!!. Its a Sunday. Not a Monday. No one else is here but the security guard. Why are all the fucking lights on when I walk into the office. Need to ask you all something. Probably a crazy question lol. But I wanna get into Networking. . Plan on taking Network Plus in less than 2 months. Got an interview tomorrow for NOC engineer position . But I currently work in Help Desk Tier 1. Second Shift. This NOC is first shift..... now here's the kicker. I need a second job. Either another full or part. I have 6 years experience at Refrigeration Tech. Which I wanted to leave for IT. I have also a trial day for a Refrigeration company tomorrow as well. First Shift hours as well. So I'm like.... well damn. Do I not go to that job and just hope I get this NOC position . Because Networking is right with where I see myself being1

You know in the end we all keep taking shit because we’re not helping one another and because half the world is unclean and disconnected but mostly because we all get more and more frightened about what is next a fear which grows with time and is encouraged by people taking what a another person worked for or poisoning the well time
