I was in school and I got bored. I opened two command prompts and did what any scammer would do.
I went to the root of the drive and did a tree. The other window is pinging google infinitely.
After a few seconds, I hear a kid say "Are you hacking the pentagon?". That guy also asked me to hack the Google Play Store. He shall forever think I'm a hacker.35 -
"Sir, I fixed the recent bug"
"Great, what did you do?"
"I commented out the code that was causing it :)"
"Brilliant! You didn't forget to push the code to production, did you?"
"No Sir, I pushed it immediately"
"Marvelous! I'll arrange a promotion for you next month"5 -
Client: "This has been broken for weeks! Why is it still broken!?!?"
Me: "Did you tell anyone it was broken?"
Client: "Well...um...no..."
I may be good at my job, but I have not been able to (nor do I want to) develop mind-reading abilities. Now please fuck off (so that I can go fix it).7 -
I remember back at study I had this friend who hated windows just as much as I did.
Then, for a project, he HAD to run windows on his laptop.
He was very fucking angry about that but did this:
Installed a Linux (debian?) vm (virtualbox) on his laptop and gave it all the spare resources.
Then he ran it fullscreen.
He was still using windows technically but at boot up he booted up the Linux vm and he just worked with that one.
Teacher wasn't pleased but he couldn't do much since the fucker ran windows on his laptop as instructed xD13 -
Colleague: "What is a pl file?"
Me: "Oh thats a perl script"
Colleague: "So how do I edit it?"
Me: "Just break out emacs and modify that perl script lol"
Colleague: " *Triggered* did you just assume my text editor preference"
Me:" -_- what year is this ??"25 -
100 applications did not do the job. 1 night out did...
After approximately 3 months of endless applications, interviews and rejections i was feeling depressed. One of those nights i went drinking and ended up in a club at 3am...i was tired. I wanted to leave. My gf wanted to stay and tried hard to convince me. As part of that effort, she introduced me to a guy who she claimed to have similar interests with me.....
....4 hours later...I got the job. I am now writing this story from my office...11 -

So I picked up my little brother (6th grade) from school.
Him: We had computer hour
Me: Cool what did you do?
Him: We programmed a game
Me: That's cool. In what language did you program?
Him: English
I burst out in laughter because I didn't expect that answer.
I know I should have asked the question better.
After that I found out that they used scratch.7 -

Manager: Why did you clear the data from the database? The client is now specifically requesting it and we don’t have it anymore!
Dev: You told me to.
Manager: Well why did you listen? It’s obvious now that that data was very important and should have been kept!
Dev: Last time you told me to do something that wasn’t a good idea I tried to explain why and told me not to question you ever again and that doing so was “disrespectful” and then threatened to have me fired. So now I just go along with what you say and let you suffer the consequences of not listening.
Manager: Well don’t do that then! It’s obviously not working very well! It’s ok to disagree with me you just have to make sure that what you think is something I agree with!
Dev: …11 -
"Why did you bring Wagyu beef to the meeting?"
"Because the calendar description said: Engineers should proactively add value for our steak holders"
(True story -- They told me to do what management instructs, without correcting anyone and without asking questions. And I love playing that game!)6 -
When I was 14, I was bad at many things. I sucked at sports cause I was weak and small. School was boring so I did not study. I mostly played games.
During a summer break, I wanted to change shit in WarCraft 3, as I heard from a friend that heard it from a friend, that you can do that. Many internet searches later I realised that you kind of just tell to the game what you want it to do, just simplified. If (target is enemy) do damage, for (every human player) make sparkly stuff...
After months of "playing" games, the new school year started and I got, for the first time, a proper computer class. Imagine my surprise when we started doing the shit I did all summer. That year I had 100% on all tests.
Many years later programming gave me friends, made my inner nerd and geek come out, gave me a free trip to the USA to represent my country, two TEDx talks, and finally a job that I like with the pay I can live with.11 -
Lead engineer: "Well, uh... I haven't really prepared a test for you but the HR insists that I should test you before wrapping up this interview.. so uh.... what do you suggest we should do now?"
Me: "Um... how about we walk through my latest project code and you can ask me to optimize it?"
Lead engineer: "Sounds cool, allright let's do that. How much time do you need?"
Welp. Did I just pick my own interview question?5 -
Friend: Why do you always listen to metal music when coding?
Me: So that if non-programmers saw me smashing my keyboard, they will understand better why I did so.
Friend: Fair point.....3 -
Scrum Meeting
PM: What did you do yesterday?
Me: Tried to come up with a funny post on DevRant.
PM: Wait... So you didn't write any code?
Me: Oh yeah of course I did! I came up with algorithm that grabs the highest rated rants and compares them to determine the best time of day I should post said rant, to get the best possible amount of up votes.8 -
What the fuck, I just discovered that my father knows vi.
He's not a programmer.
Why, God, why I'm only able to use nano... What did I do wrong...11 -
Had a week off, when I came back, an email :
"Dodger, can you explain me why did you change this ? I asked X and he wasn't aware you changed it"
Me : *browse through mail and find a mail from late December from X asking me to do that exact change*
Also me :4 -
"Oh my God thank you! How'd you fix it?"
I did literally the first thing you always do: unplug that shit and plug it back in.1 -
One of my best mentors was my father!
When i was very, very young (like 8 years old), he brought a new computer from his work! The first thing he did was play Doom (lol) but later, he always tried to show me all the things that could be done, coding in VB6.
He always told me: "You can use this to make the computer do what you want to do! You can do many things!". Even if at that time I did not understand much, he always tried to explain me how to develop a calculator or even a "Hello World" but with the name of my mother.
I will never forget his face of happiness, when I simulated a face that blinked with a counter. I do not even remember how I did it, but he hugged me so hard lol.
A couple of years ago, he was the first to try my first application on Android: An application that screamed when you shook the phone lol. He laughed a lot with that application.
He helped me in my university and we even developed several solutions together for different companies. Now we work separately, but he was an important part of what I am now.
PS: My english is kinda rusty, so forgive me ><.9 -

Guys, my unfortunately daily rant of my pm
I was told to create a docker env for our team. Good. Document the process so everyone can know what to do. Good.
My PM follows what he wants to instead of step by step and changes whatever he wants to.
I am asked for help because he doesnt know. No prob.
Me: "Do this, do this and.."
PM: "that doesnt matter, trust me, I could change it and.."
Me: "...and it wont work"
PM: "I know suff too, check" *does his changes aaaaaand doesnt work*
* awkward staring*
That happened a while ago.
This week, he crashed his git repo because he was doing things in docker team (including him) decided not to.
Took me more enough time explaining him "you are not supposed to do that in the container" funny fact he wanted to prove that his way was right and even if he did my way it would crash.
Sooooo he did my way just to prove how wrong I was. Everything worked flawlessly. Rage-still-awkward staring.
Plus the "aww that's weird. I dont know how this happened" -
"Hey, about that matter from yesterday..."
"Yes, what about that?"
"We need to talk about that again! How often do you trigger that system?"
"Once."
"You sure?"
"Yes, but i can check it, if you like."
*find references*
"See, only once."
"Can it happen at a random point later one?"
"No."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes"
"Can you check it?"
"Okay."
*shows code"
"Look here, as you can see, it will not happen at other times."
"Do you have an idea why it could happen anyway?"
"Maybe that system does the action without my software telling it to do so, wasn't that specified that way?"
"Yes, but it normally does that roughly 10 seconds after you give the command the first time, so we thought maybe you could say what makes it do the action at other points maybe."
"Did you check that systems sourcecode?"
"No not yet. But did that happen with the older version?"
"No. But we didn't try."
"Did you change something between the versions?"
"Yes, the new feature."
"Could that make a change in behaviour?"
"I don't see how."
"Can you remove that feature for test?"
"We can take the old version."
"No, we need the new version, but without the feature you added."
"That IS the old version, there is no other difference!"
"Are you sure?"
"Would you like to see it in source control?"
"No, ~ okay. What do you think causes the problem?"
"I haven't had any new ideas since we talked yesterday."
"Okay. Mhhh,...okay. Lets talk again later."
YES SURE! BRING IT ON! I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT! PLEASE COME BY OR CALL ME AGAIN! AND BRING THE BOSS WITH YOU, TO SHOW HOW SERIOUS THE MATTER IS! LET ME TELL HIM THE STUFF I TOLD SEVEN TIMES LAST WEEK!2 -
1. You don't code to add a feature or whatever. You do it to solve Users' problems. It's a User-centric system.
2. You read more code than you write. So help yourself and write code intended to be read.
3. If people don't know you did something, you did nothing!
4. Never answer a call at 3 am if you're not paid to be on night call-duty. You'll become the guy who answers at 3 am.
5. Remember the big difference between you and me is that I failed to do stuff more times than you have tried to do.
6. When you start shaving the yak, stop!10 -
Enough is enough!!!
I just received an email from HR because "Your not supposed to work that much as a trainee! Your should study at home"
WELL THANK YOU, BUT DID IT EVER COME TO YOUR MIND THAT I MIGHT ACTUALLY BE WORKING?!
I just wrote back that I have tons of stuff to do, and that they can talk to my boss if they want me to work less.
So to sum up:
I solve problems and get screamed at by HR in return?
IT FUCKING GREAT10 -
There are people in my workplace who ask "why did you set your IDE to dark theme?". How do I convince them that turning off the lights above my cubicle, lowering the screen brightness and having a dark theme is the best thing ever to concentrate?
Not to mention earbuds and a hoodie.
How do I convince them that once you turn to the Dark Side, there's no coming back?6 -
Colegue could not find data when running a very important report.
I did some research and found out that there was no data for for the month they searched . They ensured my boss that they did upload the data and that the program just does not work.
I spent two days of work trying to find out what the problem could be, under boss's pressure.
Still there was no data in the database or a record that there was ever any for that month.
The deadline passed. We got fined and only after that the colegue reilised that she had never generated the data, so there was not even data to upload.
Now it is my fault cause I never told her that she needed to do that.
I am the new guy and she has been working the same job for 7 years now. Like WTF1 -
So the tax authorities in the Netherlands have this slogan that roughly translates to:
"We can't make it fun, but we can make it easier."
I'm not sure how this is going to be easy for me. This arrived in the mail today.
Even worse this is a fuck up from them. They are saying our company did not do it's taxes but when we log in their online portal we can see that we did them. But they are saying that they don't see it in their system.
Who build that system?
Trying to stay calm when they are claiming I own them more taxes then my company has earned in a year.
I did not have enough sleep for this drama.
By the way how about we save some trees and don't send 30 letters on 1 day.11 -
friend: "oh my god i have a virus!"

Being a college student and knowing that when someone ask for "help" they actually mean "Give me your code"
The other day someone asked me for a way to solve a homework and I instead gave them the links from MSDN of the libraries and method he needed and he was like "Okay but how do I use this, how did you do it?" I facepalmed and decided to delete them from facebook, I hate leeches who wants me to do their jobs.8 -
I did it! I FUCKING DID IT! I got the new job, where I am paid better and won't get abused! The culture is better, pay is better!
My struggle now! Do I do finger guns to my current boss after telling him? I hate that asshole.13 -
soooo Texas froze before Hell, thought it was never going to happen but it did 🥴
Had a meeting scheduled for today, but since my employees (crucial for the meeting) do not have power I had to reschedule.
VP: I saw that you cancelled the meeting
Me: yes I did sir, my people do not have power at their homes so I decided that we can postpone it for later.
VP: Understandable, I just wanted to see if you guys were ok.
Me: yes sir, we are thank you and yourself?
The rest of the conv was standard pleasantries.
Why can't it be like this for all devs around the world?34 -
Worst advice?
That must have been that time my boss asked me how to restart rsyslog (Windowsguy and I was on vacation)

Last week my brother was visiting. I did some advanced partition management for his girlfriend (preparing a hard drive for backups) and used a Linux live system with gParted for that.
That's when he said "I guess it's time, that I get into Linux - what do I need to get started?".

Manager: How’s the progress coming along?
Dev: The section of code I’m working with is one of the more difficult ones so it’s a little slow
Manager: Ok well I didn’t write that section of the code
Dev: I’m not saying you did I’m just giving you the status update that you asked for

The other day, one of my cousin purchased a POS software for his bakery. He wanted me to look at it. Being curious, I did and found out that software was a decade old using MS Access as DB. He wanted couple of changes in the system and I did those in few mins.
Once I was done, he kept starring me like he never believed I could do that.

Interviewer: Time limit for this exercise was an hour and you took 2 hours so you fail. Best of luck next time
Dev: Look I really don’t think your assessment has a very fair time limit. The only way you could do this in an hour is by knowing what the problem was beforehand and having all these niche utilities written ahead of time.
Interview: Oh yeah we had one guy that did that, he did the entire thing in only 45 minutes! We hired him immediately!

How the fuck can this happen?
It might be a malware. I did not do a scan yet, but I guess that it has to do with Google Chrome itself.
I think that a pop up once appeared and ever since I get these windows alerts every 1 hour or something like that.12 -
Recruiter: You cought my attention because of your positive profile. And my client is looking for someone with your profile. Attachment: java_developer.pdf
Me: What exactly did you like about my profile? I can tell by the filename that the company is looking for java developers. Which is neither what I can do nor what I am willing to do.
Recruiter: This isn't clear by your profile, what do you want to do?
Me: Me profile has exactly two programming languages, JavaScript and Objective C.9 -

I once posted a snarky rant about the inadequacies of our vendor's product on their own social media page... It appeared during a live demo about "Managing Reputation on Social Media" with several marketing dept. executives and ruffled some feathers.

I fucking hate the web guy.
He says - make a pop-up of the raw text you're receiving (in the app) so that I can test it easily while I fix it.
I did it.
Now he laughs and says - I think you searched for it and simply copied from wrong example. All you had to do was handle the text and parse it and display it blablabla instead of simply popping up the raw text.
Thank you I flipping KNOW all of that, you stuck up obnoxious frog. I did it that way initially and uploaded it coz you SAID so! Why do you ALWAYS have to talk like I know nothing!?5 -

I have never doubted my abilities more, before this happened:
I got a Linux VM on Azure, downloaded apache httpd source which I proceeded to configure, make and install.
As expected, install failed with something related to apr and apr-util.
Searched several mailing lists, tried out several configure options, nothing worked..
After almost an hour, it stuck to me, all I had to do was "sudo yum install httpd" !!!
Disappointed that I missed something so simple, but when I did that, it came back with 'Nothing to do'...
Realized, httpd was pre-installed in that VM.. I just had to start the service !!!

After creating a logo *for free* for a client who I thought was a friend, they started getting really ungrateful and demanded me to do things in a not very calm way ("DO THIS", "DO THIS RIGHT NOW") (yes, it was actually in caps). I kindly asked them to stop using the graphics while informing them that the license used didn't let me actually force them to remove it. After that, they started yelling about how "he'd have to redo all the graphics again". All he did was put the vector logo inside a raster circle and change the font. Yes, he really did convert vector graphics to raster and didn't use the originals at all. Not only this, but he also used *aliased* raster images.
He ended up using them anyway, informing me in a cheeky way after being kicked out of a group chat (which I wasn't even the moderator of). See the picture attached for how he did that, red is the client, orange is the moderator who banned him.
TL;DR: Don't do free stuff, regardless of how bad you think your skills are.9 -

Today i implemented something of such a complexity that the part of my brain i am in could not follow it.

Just got a lection from my manager.
Today he sent me an email with request to change validation on one field validation from decimal(5,3) to int which will be 5 digit number. Ok i did that, I changed it on UI, changed validation, changed mappings, changed dtos, created migration files, and changed it in databse. After i did all of that I replied to his email and said that ive changed validation and adjusted it in database.
After my email here comes rage mail from manager with every fuckin important person in cc I kid you not. Manager is asking why the fuck did I change database when Ive could only use different validaton for that field on UI.
I Almost flipped fuckin table. What does validation good do if you wouldnt be able ti save that form? And form has like 150 fields. And if I left validation only everthing would fuckin break.
Sometimes i think that its better not to think.

On a 5 hour bus ride for which the company advertised that they have WiFi. Technically they did, it just didn't seem to be connected to anything. (it was but it was unusable). I tried logging into the router as i always do and one default "admin" password later i was in.
I didn't want to mess up anything too badly, however i did change the wpa password to "YouShouldMakeThisABitMoreSecure"5 -
Me: Can you do the javadocs comments
Coworker: I've never done that, *looks for it on google*, I can't do it, I don't know how.
Me: Did no one asked you to comment you code at school?
Coworker: Yeah, but only the ones with '//'
Me: Ok, bring me coffee1 -
I have this amazing idea, said John
I ask John about this amazing idea.
John goes on to say that it will change the world and solve world hunger.
I ask him again, what's your idea?
John says my idea is to 'solve world hunger'! AMAZING RIGHT?
now now John, so you're gonna do it like (provide a few solutions)..
John says yeah that was exactly what my idea was (ah. Fuck you)
So John now is under the delusion that he can solve world hunger and the steps to do it came from his own ostrich-brained imagination...
Tiny fuck doesn't even realize the fact that he plagiarized.
Now we look into the future where I ask John honestly that he should come up with his own idea to solve world hunger and not use mine.
JOHN GETS ANGRY
John asks 'do you actually think that was your idea? We were brainstorming man, I told you we had to solve world hunger and only because of my voice did I spark that idea in you, I created that idea man'
So, well since he's plagiarized so much I told him that I had this plan to perform a hunger strike in the grand Canyon to get some attention..
Fidgety little bitch found another idea to steal and he was like good idea!! I'm booking my flight to the Grand Canyon now!
What bout me I ask? He says man take some rest let me face the pressure (and the glory apparently)
Well, John did not return.
Poor stupid John did not realize that I had been joking and got his little ass fired under the direct sun in the grand canyon
Moral of the story :
I WILL DESTROY YOUR HOMES AND YOUR LIVES PLAGIARISTS, I WILL EXTERMINATE YOU *cough**cough*
Damn that Sulphur hexafluoride actually worked!8 -
Never be egoisitc about your code. Its good to feel proud on your code that you did it. but sharing is caring.. don;t be like only I can do this.. ego is not for dev community.. be adaptable for changes whether you learn from junior or senior :)7
-
I hate all of the people that think "agile" means "do everything at the same time, with no cost". Or, other fuckwits, think that "agile" means "fuck plans, dev team will figure something out".
Both of these types apparently did not read any publication about the subject.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!8 -
friends project: android app that start counting when touch event happens.

We do infra as a code, and one of my coworker worked on the project alone. Few months down the road, when shit hits the fan, he just message me this is not working.
First of all, I did not write that shit, and also I was never part of the conversation during the decision making. So when shit hits the fan what do you expect me to do? Do some black magic and fix it magically???1 -
Been there for two weeks
[Team lead] why didn't you deploy to production like i told you, while i was sick?
[Me] nobody told me i should do that
[TL] i wrote you on slack
[Me] I'm pretty sure you didn't
*TL scrolls through history, can't find proof*
[TL] okay I can't find anything, I probably told you in a hangout call
He did not, I would remember that...3 -
Me: Do you like the client?
Dude: Yeah! How did you make that?
Me: I... I...
Also me: SHIT I DON'T KNOW.4 -
Me: 'alriiight let's run this code here'

What was the right thing?
I don't know. It's not on their documentation in their site.
Thanks, js devs :) you guys are the absolute best3 -
Grandma: so how do I scan that thingy in order to comnect to the wifi?
Me: I already told you that's something that you have to do only once. Just turn on wifi and it'll connect automatically
G: But I already turned it on and it's not connecting. Now tell me how to scan that again
Me: Are you sure that you did?
G: Yes
*Checks*
Me: It's disabled...
*enables wifi*
G: Oh, thanks, it's working now.
Literally every time she wants her phone to connect to the wifi.2 -
User: "Why isn't this process updated? There's something wrong with your system."
Me: "Did you submit the request?"
User: "Uh yeah I'm sure I did..."
Me: "Go submit the request again." (they never did the first time)
User: "I don't know how. Will you show me?" *shows user how to do it* "Ok I did it now."
Me: "You did it wrong, you need to resubmit it."
User: "Ok I resubmitted it."
* a week later *
User: "The process still hasn't shown any progress."
Me: "You didn't resubmit it like you said you did."
User: "Will you show me how to do it again?"
* fuck me *
Me: "Sure..."
Process works as expected and everyone lives happily ever after, except the developer that knows it is just a matter of time till the next user blatantly lies, has no respect for anyone's time, and demonstrates a complete lack of desire to care about their job at all and just wants to bitch and complain like a typical lazy ass-hat.6 -
Do you ever look back at something you built a while ago and think "oh hey, that's cool.... how the hell did I do that"?!5

"What would your perfect job look like?"
I remember when I got my first 'good' job. There were all these offices that were occupied and I wondered what everyone did in them. Some ... nobody even knew. Like I couldn't find one person in the office who knew what a given person occupying an office even DID...
I thought then (and I kinda think now) it would be fun to have one of those jobs that seems accountable to nobody and everyone at the office wonders:
"What does that guy even do here!?!?!"
Granted I'd probably just come in every day and work on a lot of personal projects (dare to dream) ... with the door closed... in peace...2 -
So there is this one person who keeps asking for help from everybody and expects them to do their code .... And surprisingly they do....
I was done with that shit when I was expected to code for the person .... So I did do it with a comment saying "I have no idea why I get paid" 😂😂😂
I'm waiting for the reviewer to notice this now 😂😂😂1 -
The ammount of digging I have to do in order to fix something or building the mindset to do something i don't want to.
I have a mental block regarding people telling me what to do. I consider myself a pretty chill dude, but when someone says "do this" my mind automatically goes into "oh fuck that" mode.
I hate being this way, wish I could just switch that shit off and work on what i am told and be done with it.
I can spend all weekend fucking around with php. But the moment someone tells me to do something at work with it I start dreading it
This applies to damn near everything in life except for anything that has to do with my children.
My dad was neglectful as fuck, that itself makes me overly paranoid of making my children feel the same way I did growing up. Just wanted to throw that out.
It seems I did some progress today! Thanks Dr Devrant!
Dr Devrant: tell me about your father
Me: motherfucker sucks camel balls2 -
There has probably not been any situation when I would feel more stupid than now.
I just did a refresh of windows. It means quite a lot of work, as I need to do all the WSL related config and so on.
And I did it because I'm an extremely smart man and I didn't check that my primary screen was turned off.
I WONDER WHY I COULDN'T SEE SHIT1 -
So there is an ad for an event that claims that they got 96% likes on Facebook. What do they mean, did 96% of all facebook users worldwide like it? Or did 4% find out how to dislike a page on fb? I am confused8

Got locked out of all systems in the company.

Being an apprentice programmer in a Ludum Dare (Create a game in 72h) that knows more than the official programmer, and have an artist in the group who makes THIS PIECES OF ART!
She didn't even had a computer to work with it, neither she asked for one to the event, so eventually she used mine... And I could not do my work.
Did I mentioned that she used PAINT to color the images?
This is a long, looong story, I'll do the complete version soon...

Anyone an idea? Trying to install proxmox on my HP Proliang again but no matter what I do, it can't find a bootable disk. I've done this about 20 times before (and that worked well) and I did change the boot order but I already set that back again.
Anyone? Help 😥10 -
I attended a 2-days scientific conference last week which lasted from 9 AM-7 PM.
I submit my travel expenses today and the university adm got guts to tell me that
I should commute 6 hours everyday to that place instead of staying in a hotel.
Please people, I contribute making our research and name renown to the public. I don't even get paid doing that (did it for the sake of experience).
The least you can do is to support the accomodation. The penny pinching you did in the name of cost saving is embarrasing.
I didn't like every hour spent working in the uni, yet people still ask me why I won't continue to PhD.
No offence to all PhDs out there. It's just that my practical and money-oriented ass couldn't
stand all the free work I have to do if I do that.
I'd rather work in a supermarket, at least I'm getting paid of what I'm worth.

Did you ever have that feeling of "what the fuck - how did I do THAT" - I just had one; I was fine with the algorithm taking like 15/25 minutes to fetch, process, save all data, now it shreds through 10 times of the previous amount in like 7 minutes.3 -
Did I tell you that X third party system needed to be updated due to that pos using flash? Yes
Did you bitch about budget constraints and finding workarounds and stuff like that? Also Yes
Did I mention that X system was crucial for people and that we were not going to be able to do anything about it if we did not allocate the time to modify that before it happened? Also Yes
Did I mentioned this on multiple occasions? Yes
Was my team also pulled out from working on the alternative before this happened? Yes
Did I send multiple emails about this, talks, meetings and documentation of me saying all of the above? You betcha
Oh well 🤡6 -
The guy was a complete asshole. He criticized every line of code i did and said he could find someone else who could do it better for less.

How can some developers send emails like "I did <x> and <y> right, but I still have an error!" with NO copy/paste of the error? Come on, you hate user emails that just say "Your site doesn't work." You should know better.
I'm going to just start answering with "Wow, that sucks, and you did everything right, huh? It must just hate you." I shouldn't have to go force you to tell me what the problem actually is at that basic level.
I used to think this was a user thing. We wouldn't do that... hah, lost user, oh well, that's why we're helping them. Apparently it's not.6 -

Monday morning panic...the dreaded question.
Random office colleague: "Do anything fun over the weekend?"
Me internally: Fuck...what did I do? Did I do anything at all? I mowed the yard...played video games...spent 3 hours looking at some random open source package I gave up trying to compile. All that is boring though. Was there nothing exciting I can brag about? Fuck...oh wait. I went to a huge theme park Saturday. Yeah that's cool enough to mention!
Me: "No not really"1 -
I did it. Finally. Quit my old service provider with its 12Mb offering - in favour of a blisteringly fast 1Gbps fibre to the premises....

I know we have a lot of talented people here. Piece of advice, what ever you build, believe in it. See it through. No matter how good of an idea incompleteness won't get you anywhere.
After all every other day we all analyze different successful products and say "huh... that's nothing. Even we can do that".
Well thats the difference "We" can do that, they DID it.
See your ideas through. Stay motivated =)1 -

I have that friend who keeps telling me that he doesn't like java just because it's slow! (I hate this excuse).
Friend: look what java did to Android, it's because of java that iOS is faster tham Android.

Friend: No it's Java, we develop Android apps with java

Did an app for my college.
Everyone liked the features in it.
But when it came to the money part, (I didn't ask the actual cost, I only asked then 10% of actual standard cost) they were like improve it more, do this do that ("for free").
I held onto "If you're good at something, don't do it for free".
Just wasted my time in developing that.2 -
Not a C programmer. Recently I did some things in C again recently and now I finally figured out something that bothered me for nearly a decade now.

I just want to share this:
When I start working at my last job, I have little idea of what a unit test was.
My boss on one meeting said that unit testing will be mandatory (wich is ok and umderstandable).
Almost a *year* after that, no one still care about them. I see myself doing them the best I can, but I saw things like wrap the assertion line with "try / catch" to lie to the coverage and unit test percentage. Or in other cases directly uploading *manually* the code on the server without test at all.
And then, as the only developer who do the unit test ok I have to do the missing ones and repair the fake ones.
Then when something explodes the question all the managers love to ask "Did we had the testing?"
At least I quit... that job was some crazy shit, this is just one story of many.
Like that other time that my co-workers did not understand why I needed to do POJOs on an android app because the big bad JSON that the app used was working fine.... -
I've started to do some time tracking and just after one day of doing it I noticed that I can't get more that 10 mins working without someone interrupting me.
I love to help and hate to say no, but this is killing my productivity and delaying my work.
Most of the time my help isn't really needed too. "Did you clear the cache?" "Did you run yarn install after pulling?" "Let me look at the stack trace/error message." Sentences like these are all I need to say most of the time.
Did my coworkers get lazy because I'm there to help? Should I start say "not now" more often? Or should I just look for a better team somewhere else?5 -
My dad always tells me to write apps to make money.
I did try that before but conclusion I came to was I can only create apps for myself, not for others. (Unless of course it's a job which gaurantees pay and usually I'm still a user).
Thoughts? How do you guys code/freelance just for the money?19 -
Was having a Good day , My code was compiling, Android Studio did find the fucking 'R' In his goddamn libraries and eventually got my strong coffee by my desk.
Suddenly i'm hit up with one of Noob friends saying that he installed Windows on His MacBook Air...

Why didn't you just hammered the keyboard and the screen before doing . I had to sleep after this and all that i saw in my dreams was fucking apples and windows.

It's impressive how much root can actually get you, that's debian running xfce on my lg g3 and chromium.
It's always nice to know that you can have a portable server etc. straight from your phone. I even used that kind of setup as a portable laptop some time ago and it worked quite well.
What things did you do via chrooted linux on android devices? would be interesting to know if somebody maybe is still using it as some kind of laptop as I did.13 -
Manager redesigned large parts of a website template that I have been working on.
now, this did not bother me one bit but I am pretty sure it has to do with the delivery of the message. She was so happy about the redesign and it really did look better. I could not find it in me heart to not comply and just be happy. Plus she always lets me come in super late :V and she really is pretty and very nice to us.
oh well.2 -
I mentioned earlier that I did well in a tech screen. It was 2.5 hours long.... Now they want me to do another 2 hour interview. How am I supposed to find a job while working without getting fired? ? ?2

Your guide to passive-aggressive false apologies:
- I’m sorry you’re so sensitive
- I’m sorry that you think I did something wrong
- I’m sorry if you’re mad
- I’m sorry that you made me do it
- I’m sorry you feel that way
And, my most favorite:
- I’m sorry that you’re making such a big deal out of this.12 -
Colleague from other department : Hey man I don't think my laptop can access to my company mail do you think you can fix it?

I was trying to make this app a good "SOLID" app. Then I realized if I did that I was going to have 57 objects that were just different enough that I couldn't generalize them and this app just isn't important enough for me to do that. So I took a nap.

How did you learn to program ?.
I read E-books to get the basic knowledge and then I would go through a open source PHP project and rebuild it using the look cover right check technique.
Then on top of that I watched YouTube tutorials.
How did you learn ?.
I never went to college or further eduction as I seem to do really well at self teaching plus there is so much info on google nowadays.12 -
So I'm making a file uploader for a buddy of mine and I got an error that I had never seen before. Suddenly I had C++ code and some other weird shite in my terminal. Turns our that I got a memory leak and the first thing that sprung to mind was "Fuck yes, I get to do some NCIS ass debugging".
Now the app worked fine for smaller files, like 5MB - 10MB files, but when I tried with some Linux ISO's it would produce the memory leak.
Well I opened the app with --inspect and set some breakpoints and after setting some breakpoints I found it. Now, for this app I needed to do some things if the user uploads an already existing file. Now to do that I decided to take the SHA string of the file and store it in a database. To do this I used fs.readFile aaaaaaaaaand this is where it went wrong. fs.readFile doesn't read the file as a stream.
Well when I found that, boy did I feel stupid :v5 -

PM: yes. dev x, your update please.9 -
I remember the first time I had a code block, I sat on my desk for up to 18 hours trying to fix it. In the end realizing that my impatience is not helping me. It was all in vain. A tired mind did not help.
I finally came to realise that I was lacking on knowledge and a tired brain did not help. I did it the next day but learnt a huge lesson. When it's just not your day, it's not you day. A fresh mind will help next day. Relax, do anything apart from code.
Too much of code can drain you of ideas and smartness. You need to let your mind breathe. Life away from the PC is important too. -
I once had to do instruct some students about doing some project. On the first day, I gave some task and on the next day I checked all of them. Once you write codes for years you can realize what can a newbie write. I asked if he wrote that code by himself. And he was sure of it. But he did not know that that code was taken from my blog.3

When I was starting my programing adventures I was intern in a "java position" that sucked so hard that I quited about 2 weeks in....
We would actually not code any single line... It was a fucking bullshit code generator for some shitty thing that I really didn't get and all we did was watch video tutorials about how to use it...
I was going insane...
There was this "senior" php dev at the team that used to brag that php was the most awesome fucking shit in the world and once said something like "I mean... Come on ... You can do anything in php... What can you do in java that you cant in php"
Oh boy... If it was today I would teach him some manners... -
I'm absolutely loving the fact that my university is making me take their intro to programming course this fall when I've taken 5 programming classes in high school and already have intro to programming credits from a different university. Did I mention that I passed the AP Computer Science exam before taking even more courses? Do they not understand that I do in fact understand how to use recursion(the most advanced topic in their intro course) and don't need to spend a semester relearning what I already know? For Christ's sake they don't even get into OOP in that course.3

When I point out something you did wrong. I do not care about the things you did right in the past year.
You did something wrong and that needs to be fixed. I do not care about how hard you tried, I just need it to be right. I'm not attacking you as a person I'm complaining about the end result being not good enough.10 -

At least do what Gitlab did, a nice small menu that DOES NOT EAT HALF THE DAMN SCREEN!
Oh, did I say anything about sub menu hell that pops up whenever your mouse hover over any of the items on the left? Yaaa... that goes to a brand new rant!19 -
The job wasn't bad. I started as an intern in a startup. The company did have its problems but the people were nice and I liked the job. But holy shit, I was insecure. I was constantly worrying if I was doing okay or not and even though nobody ever said anything even slightly negative. Since it was a startup, projects did fail and I usually felt guilty and blamed them on myself. Failures that I now understand did not have anything to do with me or my coding abilities and were mostly because of other issues (management, marketing, finances, etc). But all in all, I liked it and I improved a lot. Both technically and non-technically.
-
was super tired yesterday and manager asked me if everything is ok, i ended up telling her way more than i should have about basically that I'm looking for other jobs... damn it why did i do that?!7

FML. Wednesday evening i started working on a personal project that i wished to complete till Thursday night
Thursday ,5th july, my birthday (fuck it). Went mad on project , 11:40 of night , it was still incomplete.
Fuckit fuckit fuckit, i have to do it , i have to do it. But here comes another idea that seems implementable 😑
6th july ,9:30 am of morning and then its complete ( not 100% market product levl complete, but , yeah i did all that i felt i can do)
My body temperature :103 -_-
I AM FUCKIN ILL NOW AND WHY DO I HAVE TO ALWAYS DO THIS NIGHT CODING !!!!
fucking excitements -_-
Don't you guys ever go through this phase? When you are so excited about a project you can't seem to think beyond that? And end up hurting your body?5 -
Somehow I enjoy creating flawlessly working nifty utilities a lot more than writing actual business code.
It's that versatility and reusability of a well-written utility that makes it suitable for many use-cases that puts a smile on my face.
A single-purpose business and use-case-specific piece of code doesn't do it for me anymore. I guess it never did, really...
I wish I could get paid for building tools rather than business apps :)3 -
I must be a madman.
Trying to log in to appDynamics. enter account name, hit ENTER -- <...>/appdynamics.com/controller/undefined, 404: Page not found.
Go back, do that again -- same result
Go back, ctrl+F5, try again -- same result.
So in the end I did 17 or 19 back-retry attempts in a row and the last one DID log me in.
Peachy.

My biggest personal challenge as a dev is learning and retaining, as well as keeping current, any particular language. I swear I really did build a career as an HTML/JS/CSS programmer. I have a resume that shows I did. But for some reason, lately, every time I open an editor I feel like I'm starting over from 22 years ago. Everything I do nowadays is copy/paste from StackOverflow, hiring another dev to help out, or cribbing code from past projects. I'd love to be able to just open Sublime and start coding like a badass like I imagine other coders do, but I just can't even get started. WTF is wrong with me?

I was experimenting with a load test suite called 'Siege' to build and scale increasingly complex searches against our new site search engine. I assumed that an old iMac couldn't have generated a crushing load against the beta servers and I learned two things the day I wrote and started that script before heading to lunch:
1) Beta and Production shared MSSQL instances
2) That single iMac was more than enough to take the whole production site down... -
Found this beautiful piece of code, that I wrote apparently a year ago .... oh my 😂 🤦♂ 😅
If I could travel back in time, I would would slap myself for doing this. Although I remember, why I did this, because of many min()/max() operations that I needed. I wanted to keep the code, so that I would know, which code piece belonged to which part, but man ... is that badly written! Nowadays with Clean Code style, I would certainly do it differently.7 -
I didn't WANT to do it, but he left me no choice. He was about to tell everyone the secret that I'd kept for such a long time. I couldn't allow him to do that.
I'm still debating whether it was me who pulled the trigger, I never wanted to, but I did, it changed me.
Now I've been living with his wife, his children, in his house, with his parents and family. I've been to countless reunions and everybody seems to enjoy having me around, claiming that I've 'changed' and become a better person.
My old self seems to have faded away into nothingness, I don't know if I should be happy with that. But I do know one thing,
If such a situation were to come up one more, I'd do it again.1 -
"What the fuck did you do to my phone?" has got to be the most irritating line from a user ever. I didn't touch your phone, so just because I know IT that means I messed up your phone? That's stupid.1
-
I'm looking at someone's shit code... and I have to remind myself... we all have the ability to be fucking stupid, especially when we're trying to do something in order to do something else so that we can do something else.
note to self: "always remember, they did the best they could with the resources they had at the time".
But that doesn't change the fact that I need to clean up the crap they left behind.5 -
Want:
AI that can be smart enough to interface with recruiters and companies during a job search. A way to weed out the shit companies and recruiters.
If they can do this, we can too!
Did I just come up with a service?2 -
Guys seriously, how the fuck did we end up like this? What's the deal with the new ~2Kg piece of aluminium that Apple is selling for $999, the "Apple Stand Pro"...
How did we allow for such a company gain this much of arrogance and confidence to sell us normal goods for exorbitant prices?
I seriously cannot imagine the unit production price going beyond $100, and I'm exaggerating a lot here. I can't think of any economic model that justifies the extra $899. They're exploiting cheap Chinese labor for fuck sake! What costs do they have?5 -
"Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://19-" SHUUUUUUUT UUUUUUUUUUUUP FOR FUCKS SAKE
I fucking have app.UseCors(x => x).AllowAnyOrigin().AllowAnyMethod().AllowAnyHeader()); in my startup. It's not supposed to tell me the CORS request did not succeed becuase THERE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE CORS WHEN I DO THAT.15 -
Being lazy taught me more about (code) automation that years of study ever did.
“Ugh! Updating translations is boring, why do I have to do this manually?”
“Damn I really hate having to remember endpoints”
“Oh, come on! Its the third time I initialise this the same way!”
I’d love to say this is a motivational speech or something but no, im just lazy lol2 -
Did you know? TL;DR stands for "too long; didn't read".
BUT DID YOU FUCKING KNOW THAT THE REST OF THE FUCKING TEXT MATTERS TOO?
Fucking read the rest before trying to be helpful. You wouldn't discuss a book after reading the summary, the same applies to questions.
"just do it like that"
"But that's not what I asked, I need it this way"
"Why would you need it this way?"
"ID fucking K. Maybe I left a fucking hint about that in the context? Can you spare like one or two minutes to read the context?"2 -
Now my MacBook didn't boot up until I plugged in the charger. Even tho it was 90 percent charged. Now why did it do that 😢2

Just got off the phone with a csr about a bug they found. No biggie, I said I'd fix it. Basically until it gets fixed I told them that when they do their process to make sure to do "foo" first, then "bar" second. As soon as I got off the phone, had to poop so I went to the bathroom, and as soon as I sat down I get a message from the same CSR, "Hey I did bar first, can I type foo then bar again?"
WTF DID I JUST SAY LITERALLY 2 MINUTES AGO ON THE PHONE. TBH IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU JUST DIDNT DO ANYTHING FOR 15 MINUTES BUT NOW I HAVE TO COMB CLOUD FUNCTION LOGS, FIND THE DOC UID YOU CREATED, FIND THE DOC YOU MADE, DELETE IT, DELETE THE ASSIGNMENT IN YOUR TRASH ASS WORKPLACE PORTAL, AND STILL FIX THE SAID BUG3 -
Client: I need you to integrate with this API.
Me: ok cool, but what are we doing with it (where does the data go/styling)?
Client: what do think we should do?
Me: well it would be really cool if we did it like this *short and sweet explanation of really cool functionality and design*
Client: I LOVE IT! Let's do it, oh also I need it done by tomorrow...
Me: *GOD DAMNIT, why do you always do this...don't you dare say ok* ok, yeah I can totally do that.
...now at the market stocking up on redbull2 -
Why do German companies hate paying interns decent wages?
I just had an interview for an internship at a decently funded startup, and they proposed MINIMUM WAGE as a salary. Acted like it was the most normal thing in the world, too.
I do have a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering and some actual working experience as a developer, yet they suggested they’d pay me even less than that if they were legally allowed to. Is that their way of saying they don’t want me after all? They did invite me to a second interview.
I get that interns generally aren’t as productive as senior devs who spend years on a certain project, but minimum wage? Fuck that!
Luckily, they’re just the first company I talked to, but I do feel a little offended.15 -
How dare my manager do his job and nag me about something that I did honestly completely forget about. Rude!
-
I remember when I was fresh out of college and I had a shitty client that wouldn't shut up on how my design didn't look exactly like the 50 page PDF they sent over. So what did I do? I took each page of the PDF, made it a JPEG, and made each page in the site an image. THERES YOUR PIXEL PERFECT DESIGN!2

So management calls me at 1 AM. I have insomnia so I'm still awake... but I know I have to set boundaries, steer away from unhealthy and unproductive habits. I knew that this spontaneous meeting would not be compensated, and even if they wanted me to fix a bug, I'd be too sleepy to do anything really. I needed some healthy sleep. So I muted my phone and ignored them...
But I kept thinking on the call. What did they want? Did they found a bug on production? (We do have clients on the other side of the world.) Would this create a big fight? And of course, if they brought it up, what would I respond? I did feel guilty. I was worried about the company, since my future also depended on it... and my insomnia kept me awake for an extra couple of hours...8 -
I was trying to watch an instructional YouTube Python video (on my Android phone) while it was dark in my bedroom, and then I remembered that Youtube for Android doesn't have a damn dark mode... NOOOOOOOO!!! :( :(

What did you do the last 20 minutes?

Question: Have you ever worked for a toxic company? If so, did do you do something about it? Any tips?
By toxic I mean the abusive kind, where racism and sexism are "just jokes" and where clients are essentially scammed into buying software that doesn't do what they think it does.8 -
I just hate it when a classmate just waits for you to do the work first so that they can copy it.
This recent project we had was a pretty good example. Most of them didn't know what to do while I on the other hand actually READ the documents for the technology we were using so it gave me sort of a head start. They eventually asked me to do one part of their work first so that they can copy off of what I did and I mean EVERYTHING. A pure copy paste of my code while only changing the variable names. Genius1 -
I'm a backend developer and one day my team lead asked me to make a architecture diagram of our system, which he had to put in a PPT and demo it to a client. I did it for 15-20 minutes. And I completely hated doing it. I went and said "I will not do it". He then just took it from me and did it.. which he is supposed to. Felt very Very good doing that!!1

Took about 67 hours to do homework task and still not got the job offer. And they kept asking few times when I will send the task, because they saw me as very likely me fitting, so I thought there is high chance to get and was motivated to do the homework.
Of course that much time took because I did not know technologies, it would be much less if I knew tech.
But at least learned new tech.13 -
Bitbucket full of dicks!!!
Dude just pushed merge conflict comments!!! At first he was like I did not do it, so I was like git blame bitch! Now he is like it wasn't my fault so what I used force push!
Well that was it I will leave this unholy company!1 -
So my manager mentioned off hand that we might look at updating our company website to look a little more modern...
Me being me jumped right into action and now that I've finished I remember why I haven't built my personal site.. Fuck static web pages man...
Don't know why I did this, not even happy with it but I think it'll do, CSS and HTML is messy but fuck it, it works...1 -
way back in highschool, for recitation i fixed a bug in the code written on the board with a very small change. feeling proud of my work, i did a 'mic drop'-esque thing on the marker i used.
my prof apparently did not see the change i made, said to the class something about 'having guts, stagefright, etc. he thought i really did not do anything, and just erased the whole thing. i almost lost interest in programming after that.
after college though, graduating top of the class and all, the school asked me to do their website, it was kickass and the board liked it.
months after golive, i came across the same prof in a party for celebrating the success of the website.
i will never forget that "in your face" smug smile i gave him, and the obvious stumped look on his face.
sorry if its too long, here's a rant potato (:/)1 -
I know I'm getting old from small signs like:
- I like mentoring newcomers even fresh graduates, explaining them everything they have to know, answering all of their questions if I can (I had some really bad mentors before as newcomer)
- These newcomers always learns faster than I expect and shortly they works faster than us
- On the other hand senior members asks my opinion about some decisions or technical issues even if I barely know more about that topic. (Did I look experienced somewhat?)
- I hardly take overhours and I discourage fresh graduates to do. (I did enough overnights already in my life)1 -
So we have this team that deploys some code. We had a change in that code that "we" forgot about. Turns out, a dev on our team decided it would be cool to rename an endpoint. Why? Great question. Because. So this code gets deployed, but the call to that endpoint didn't get deployed. System 2 tries to call the endpoint, 404. We roll back, we're searching, after like an hour, we find it. We go to TFS to see who did it. The dev grabs my keyboard and starts checking diffs, somehow managing to skip their commit (from 5 months earlier). I take back my keyboard and *surprise* it was the commit that was skipped. WTF? Why did you rename that endpoint? What do you mean you didn't do it? It has your name right there!3

On a shitty day where your brain doesn't work, have you ever looked at some code you wrote, and actually get intimidated by whatever version of you wrote that? After stumbling around most of the day, read some beautiful code, I admired it, then realized, holy shit, I wrote this?
"Yeah, I don't know who that was, it looks great, how the fuck did I do that, and will I ever be able to do it again"
Like, I don't think I can, definitely not today, write anything even close to that.

How much do you guys use CLI and why?
I did learn a bit of terminal as well as cmd as a hobby, but now I don't use cli that much anymore, maybe sometimes for git or fixing some issues... perhaps that's because:
1. I use windows
2. I am a .Net developer25 -
So I had this awesome idea yesterday, and I was really in to it and all, so before I started working on it I googled some stuff, and while looking for something (how do you generate session cookies) I just found out that somebody did EXACTLY what I wanted to do. Now I'm sad.7

man this google android documentation fuckin sucks shit
i have NO idea in what order to read the document
they did a great job separating components into each different category but there are a lot of categories that use the knowledge of other categories so all of them are dependent on one another
and even when i read the documentation, they explain it like this in steps:
1. do this
2. do this
3. do this
7. do this
8. do this
45. do this
83. do this
84. do this
85. do this
and for the last step, step 2357 do this3 -
It was on my first year of university. I had to develop an administrative system for a tattoo studio.
But practically the only I did was consulting to db and saving information 😅 and the girl who was the owner of the studio told me that using the system was a wasting of time. It was easier to her do those things handmade
But I learned a lot from that experience -
I finally found something to rant about! So what happened is that I am participating in the Digital Ocean competition (I need to do 5PR's). So I find a report with a lot of scripts. I decide to contribute and write a discord webhook API (send messages through a webhook). The next day, the guy goes "No thanks :)" and closes the PR. Words cannot express how triggered I am. I ask him if I can make anything else out of exasperation (I did not intend to do anything for him anymore, I can't explain why I did that), he tells me no...

Got a problem with an AUR package. Decided to ask the AUR maintainer. Registered on the AUR page. Can't login, receiving HTTP400 bad referrer header.
Decided to report that issue. To do so, I need to register on the Arch Linux Website. Did that. To finish registration, I need to verify my account. However, the verification button just does nothing.
Removed AUR package.3 -
What does projektaquarius do when he doesn't have a working IDE? Reformat code (that I am already refactoring) to an industry standard format and prepare for the arguments that are going to come from the other group who has their own coding standard that isn't industry standard.
Already preparing for the Pascal case versus Camel case argument. Emotionally that is. Mentally the argument basically just amount to "your group didn't want to refactor the code so we did it. Live with it or you do it." -
One of the worst things I did in my career as a developer was that when i had to change an offer form in our SAP System. My boss told me to change the prices in a form in our SAP system. Normally the key users do that but our SAP System is so fucked up that sometimes the developers have to do it because you have to write directly into the database. So I wanted to look up which table it was and what I saw scared me.
IT WAS A FUCKING IMAGE.
So I used paint to edit the prices in the image and re-uploaded the image. Shame on me but I didn't wanted to change that shit. I have other things to do than that. -
Has to be writing.
Not exactly a better dev, per se, but close enough.
I used to read books and imagine all sorts of possible scenarios to different events. One day, after replaying the Mass Effect series, I began to think about alternate ways to end it. Opened Libre Office and started hammering away. 10 minutes later, I had an outline. Never actually finished that story, but the spark was there.
I began noting down outlines and creating structures for interesting games and books; that soon carried over to my work. Before and after every meeting with my boss, I'd have outlined how the meeting was going to go, and how it actually went. Gave me a sense of order.
This in turn helped me be a better manager (I work with a team of 9), and I tell you guys, it couldn't have come at a better time. I had been promoted quite suddenly, and had been fucking up quite a bit at the start.
I had my shit in order. My team was happier and more efficient. My boss was happy. I was given bigger goals and tighter deadlines. I fucking loved it.
All this, from writing some fanfiction. (there, I said it!)
P. S: I stared at this for a solid minute, still not sure how it all came together.1 -
So here I work with this colleague that , at first , had a reasonable résumé. Whatever.
Time goed by and he is just doing tickets, clicking left and right, the usual grind of a shitty monitoring system which I am working intensely on deprecating that shit. Anyhoo
The last few days it became apparent that his resume was basically a hot air cake and he knows basically nothing intrinsically.
As I have stated before in previous rants, "everyone was a noob once"... But this guy...
He wants to do "something with Ansible"... "Ok what do you want to do?" , I asked (and I regret to have asked).
He basically wants to write new files on targets. Easy enough, I show him how he could do it with playbooks, inventory and role just for demonstrating the entire chain.
This guy chanes everything up, thereby breaking host group assignment, he launchea it on ALL machines...
Luckily it's a harmless file, so dodged a bullet there.
But the real wtf ia that he did it with the root account for our systems, without understanding the difference between "authentication" and "authorization"...
I am now explaining him what the difference is and how he can be able to check it. I give him the commands literally! ( sudo -l -U <user>)
Manages to fucking open up each sudoer file in vim , mistype or whatever he did in an attempt to leave vim... Breaks sudo...
Now he tries to spin it in such a way that I have steered him to break things.
"Dude you just fucking failed a copy/paste and you did absolutely fuckall without understanding what you are doing, then splurge out accusations because you did it wrong!"
FMLrant privilege escalation authentication authorization living eventually gets revealed colleagues without intrinsic knowledge breaking sudo3 -
Time for me to feel stupid. I have been reading here for a week, and only saw a way to do a -1 on a post or a comment. Turns out that Chrome is NOT showing me the +1 about the current ranking. I had to switch to Microsoft Edge to see it. I thought that I had to hit a certain plus level before I could plus others. ARGH!! So many posts that I have to find again. Why, Chrome, did you do this to me??5

Was wondering, how dfox and trogus did it?
Was going through top rants of all time, and they categorized correctly, did they do it by hand?
I only checked first page, but that is a lot of work to do if they did it by hand1 -

As usual before sleeping i set a timer for shutdown cuz i use my hotspot to surf devrant in bed before sleeping.
My roommate( lets call him AB) sees me writing the command.
AB: what are you doing?
Me: setting a timer to shutdown my computer.
AB: oh nice i want that too... is it just a linux thing?
Me: nope u can do it on windows.. just search the cmd command on google and u are good to go.
AB: you do it. You search.
Me: huh? Why would i do that? Bitch it is simple just google "cmd command shutdown timer" and open the first result.
AB: *extremely dissapointed face and starts searching* i dont understand anything.
Me: AB! The instructions literally explain everything! I can see!!
AB: you are good at computers, u are a computer engineer (im just a second year student)
Me: fuck off *i go to sleep*
Next day i learned that he did it after i left him, and that it did shutdown but he wasnt done with his work and he was too lazy to google how to cancel it.... JUST GOOGLE DAMMIT!!! -

Person : Today you worked for 18 hours. What did you accomplish?
Me : I did no progress in the code base.
Person : How is that possible? You were on the IDE all the time.
Me : When you have a huge package pulled in, that takes 3 hours to build, for every single change you do,
And the build path is screwed :D2 -
I was reviewing a Pull Request recently and there was this line
`return josn(202, 'Record does not exists')`
I told the developer that, status code and description does not match.
He just did not want to accept that he was wrong and told me that, since this function is not exposed to public, it does not matter.
Whats wrong in accepting that you are wrong. We do make mistakes, consciously or unconsciously. Huur. I regretted reviewing his codes there after.5 -
So I was talking microservices architecture with some lead techs.
And I started asking how did they combine/connect their microservices.
And despite having a lot, they use HTTP as the main transporter.
So the put some API-Gateway, all inside traffic has to go through it, to connect to the final client.
And I said that I do meshing microservices, and we use Nats as man transporter, so our messages go through UDP and not TCP.
And they freaked out. Saying UDP is too low level and not useful...
My question: if you do microservices oriented architecture, and not SOA, do you use HTTP? Did you use it simply because "it works"?14 -
Client Agency: "Well why did it take you so long to style the clickdummy?"
Me: "well I did not anticipate that you had that set up by a student who does it know his css. I had to fix many usability problems first."
Client: "To me it looks just like before. What did you do exactly?"
Me: "Are you serious? That thing was not at all usable before."
Client: "The functions were all there in the first place!"
Me: "Yes, but I one does not know where to click, that is no use, is it?"
Client: "Ok then what ever...I somehow feel like like you have gotten less efficient these days. "

Did I ever tell you guys about that time I got a whole monitor for 1 Zar?
Probably but I shall again.

tldr; Fuck Windows networks
I do some first level support for a befriended architect when i got some sparetime after regular work. Its nice and easy extra cash most of the times but not today.
We decided to ditch the money thiving IT admin that did not care about doing his work. And instead of taking over his pile of shit i adviced to redo the whole network, drop the massive server that did idle 99% of the day and update all PCs some of them did still run IE8 and had no active anti virus, yeah that dude was real shit.
Anyways i proceded with the whole process today and everything worked expect the fucking windows network, that fucking domain controller setup blocked the fucking internetconnection even though DNS and DHCP where set up correctly. Why does fucking ms need to make it so difficult to set up fucking network accounts....
I will have to finish this shit up tomorrow and this on a weekend...2 -
A few months back, I had this interview with this guy to work at his startup. It was wonderful and he told me that I am hired (during the interview itself!). The position was of an intern as I was to start my co-op. So, to complete all the process with the university, I need offer letter to submit. The guy did not send me one, instead he sent an NDA. I emailed him explaining that I need an offer letter to submit to the university first before I sign any agreement. He stopped replying to my emails.
I had no other option so I contacted my university's co-op committee and explained them the situation. They contacted that guy and after that I get an email saying "We would like to move forward with other candidates".
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH REVENUE TO PAY, DO NOT CONDUCT INTERVIEWS. AND WHY THE FUCK DID YOU SAY "YOU ARE HIRED IN THE FIRST PLACE?!" MORON1 -
Story time!
I was with some friends, one a CS student and the other one's a mechanical engineer student with coding like a hobby.
I was listening to a song from which the band released the stems (individual tracks) of a song, and this dude made an anime version of it.
Me: Oh God, this is awesome
Mech: how did he do that?
Me: What? The song?
Mech: Yeah, how did he split the voice and everything, is the music like an Ajax request and he queried for the voice
Me and my other friend lock eyes and began to laugh so fucking hard.
Me: that's not how it works, why did you though that?
Mech: I don't know -

Just finished my first microservice project. I'm so happy that I was able to do that hardest thing I ever did. It's just a side project but I think it will do well on my cv as I will be finishing university next year.
Just wanted to share this with you guys as all the rants really helped me to calm down when I was wrecking my head over some weird bugs.4 -
This is just funny more then anything 😂
This guy has been fucking up non stop!
He did something incredible, we gave him precise EXACT instructions you couldn’t mistake them
What does he do? Everything wrong.
Granted what he does, works, but... it will take me hours to do what I want to do with the data, if he did it the right way, minutes!
All I wanted was all the active products for this company and their links on the site. He creates an export I can convert to google xml shopping.
What does he do? create over a 100 export buttons one for each supplier so it’s right but it’s all products for that supplier in one file.
So I can do my bit if I just combine 100 files together 😂
It’s funny because there’s already an export that does the exact thing we want just without all the right fields. This is what we asked.
He just needed to duplicate that and add more fields 😂 we think he’s doing it on purpose to be a dick 😂 no one can be that dumb.
I’m laughing cause it’s fucking ridiculous. He’s gonna get fired soon, and he knows it. -
Had my first ever final interview as a developer after passing the first ever coding assignment, now can't stop thinking if I should have answered the questions differently.
I was very honest to my answer when they asked "How do you test your application?" As I started building the app with 0 knowledge about software development and know nothing about software testing. So I just told them the truth that I did not do any proper test, I just used a checklist and manual test to test my app and the app that I created for the assignment was the first app that I write a proper test cases and implement an automated test. The same goes to other questions like automated deployment and OOP experience. I just told them the honest truth even though I know that they are not the best practice. Did I just f*cked up the interview??
Arghh can't stop thinking2 -

Best tool: The one that has proper documentation.
Worst tool: The one that doesn't have proper documentation.
God, so much times did I have to waste time trying to read the source code myself, trying to figure out what the fuck was going on because the developer didn't take 2 seconds to document what I had to do...
Or commands that I had to use that exist but I only found out about because I read the source code :|1 -
I'm curious, why do you guys seem to always put up with "I changed my mind, I need it by Friday" kind of requests? "I've pulled an all-nighter, because customer wanted it before the holidays" - didn't you agree to do it after the holidays? Did the customer come by with a bag of money for you to put away everything else for them? Even if you do get paid extra, do you really get that much more to make your suffering worth it?6

The mobile version of Medium does not let you leave comments. I do not understand. How did that get overlooked.

Summing up my cynicism.
I live on a big shit pile in the middle of nowhere where biggest achievement is travel around the globe. It doesn’t matter that you can do it under a day using special piece of paper that everyone is bragging about.
At the same time I am trapped inside sack of meat that is slowly putrefy and is highly vulnerable to everything on this fucking place. Sooner or later I will shit under myself again.
And I even didn’t stared cause the real problem is that I can’t get the fuck out of here and everyone try to convince me that what I do is “important” and I need to start a family and shit like that, yet everyone believes in some higher power that says you don’t need all of this shit. Like what the fuck people ?!!?!!
How the fuck did I get here ? I must have been making jokes from someone important. If it’s true I’m really really sorry and now please get me out of this nightmare. I know I did something wrong and I sincerely apologize. Are we good now ?
Fucking hell !!!3 -
Last year my boss decided to outsource a project I did the year before to another company.
Now he wants my opinion on why this company estimates 10h to do an upgrade on a API interface I did on that project.
Like I remember details on what I did two years ago. And like I have any idea how this company is rigged to handle the project. -
Guess what i just did. I shorted the entire fucking building. And all I was gonna do was install a couple of lamps. Fuuck. I'm never ever again going to do anything even remotely electrical at work without consulting a technician first ever again. Fuck fuck fuck. I'm so fucking unlucky.
And this fuxking keyboard that fuxking doesn't autocorrect fuxk. Fuxk. I seriously can't write fuck without really thinking about where I put my fingers. Fuxm.4 -
So I'm on PTO for a week, and there is some feature for which I gave the estimations to the other team. That team thinks that eastimates are high and I'm getting pinged to think about it.
First of all they did the overriding of some feature which was required by our team without our knowledge and now when we got know what they did, they are asking us to do the work. I have an estimate and yes they are higher than expected because this feature is on their systems and I don't have complete understanding of it. This is ridiculous though but still I think that I'm wrong somewhere but I know this work is not easy for me, that's why estimations are high.
I'm on leave, I'm not supposed to be working anyway even if it's a small clarification.
Adding more here, that guy tagged another person from my team to do the work as I'm on leave. This guy did some work before too. But this is insane. HOW THE FUCK YOU EXPECT US TO DO IT FOR YOU!! YOU FUCKED IT UP!!!
I feel scared, what if the other guy can actually do the work, people will think I'm just stupid.:(((8 -
Proof i typically underestimate my own self: I just remembered building a browser In Visual Basic in middle school, in a day at my friends house…. How the hell did I do that?? I recognize some of the syntax, but i don’t remember Visual Basic… but THATS how I know it looks like C… AND I DONT KNOW C! so wtf!21

I am a fresher at this IT giant and I was hired to work in a better role as a dev. They assigned me CMS copy paste stuff and I dont like the work here at all. I am preparing for better opportunities. The lead calls me up after working hours to do some more copy paste stuff. I conveyed frankly that I cant devote time after working hours as I have other studies to attend do. Did I fuck myself or did i do the right thing ?5

I accept offer letter from x company.
And just before 3 day of joining i got far better offer from company y.
So i told company x that i got better offer I don't want to join there anymore.
They told me that after accepting i should not find new job, my word has no value, and told me "keep that attitude (sarcastically).
I know i did wrong. How do you guys handle that?
Is it wrong to accept other offer after accepting one?7 -

I assume that you did some Windows development.
I just made my WPF and want to publish. But VS created setup.exe for me. I want to make my own installer. How do I get the application files? not the setup file?
Please help. Thanks.4 -
In this project I’m working on, designers want to decrease their amount of work by blaming technical constraints.
The supposed “technical constraints” actually do not exist, as the stakeholders did tell me in the beginning “make sure that these issues do not exist within the selected solution”.
Now, I don’t have a single problem with them making their lives (and by consequence mine) easier by decreasing the scope of work, but I have said at least 2-3 times by now that there are no technical constraints, and started to do some paperwork trail that I did say that and when.
Not looking forward to see how all of this will turn out, but hoping that for once I am covering my back enough.3 -
Hey guys! I'm new here, and also in programming... I'm finishing my studies in Python and I would like to ask you a question, if I can... what else should I learn that would help me? I intend to start my "career" as a web developer, at least for now... did I do it right? am i starting wrong?11

Initially I wanted to be a sysadmin 6 years ago actually. And to this day I still am, to some extent. But since a while ago - I believe last year - that idea started to shift. I always got so enraged at software going tits up, further fueled by the fact that without programming skills I couldn't do anything about it but weep.
Last year in February I did my first part of the LPIC-1 exam, and this year also in February I did the second part. Failed the second part though so I'll have to go back for that. But in the exam results I found that my shell scripting skills are pretty much perfect. I got a big fat 100% on that part.
So that got me thinking. Is the shell a proper programming language, and could I use this to write my own software? And the answer turned out to be yes. Granted like every programming language "'it's\ definitely\ not\ perfect.'" But hey it does most of what I need and for automation it's absolutely great.
So that's what I do nowadays. Still a sysadmin, but I picked up a habit of writing out everything I would otherwise do manually into code. I love it! -
Dear me, It's spelled feTCH. It's caused you like an hour between today and yesterday mispelling FETCH as feCth. Why use it at all? I mean it's there now but next time, why not use GET or REQUEST or anything that you will spell correctly 100% of the time and prevent confusion when autocomplete gets it "wrong" because "derp, fetchFoobar is defined, derp dee derp what did I do"?
It's been a long week when the target of the rant is my own dumb habits.
I did get a new keyboard but only a ding dong blames his tools. Something like that2 -
So I had to do a school presentation of a book. I was assigned with a classmate who I asked when we are going to do it. She answered with the next sunday. Presentation date was the monday afterwards. Which is kinda fine. But in the end she couldnt make it for whatever weird reason she gave me. So i sit a whole afternoon creating this presentation. Good thing was, that the teacher gave me a bettergrade, because I did everything.

"- Hello I work on this shitty Drupal project where the vendor directory is gitted, and we can't use composer becauses it returns error [note: i wish this was a joke]. So I installed a module that won't work, because it needs a depency. I installed it but it still doesn't work

Did I ever tell you how the Drupal stack exchange will one day make me turn into a serial killer? -
The company I work in recently made a subdomain where you need to figure out how to hack the page using a vulnerability they subtly put there. If u are successful u get an interview. I looked it over for fun and was able to do it. But since i already work there i was thinking of telling a friend id love to join us but was rejected a month ago when they interviewed him about how i did it so he can apply maybe they give him another chance. do you think I should do that?
Note that i referred him last month and hes a fresh grad with not much experience3 -
Friend, jestingly: Gabe I did a hack, I edited the html on my browser and sent a pic to my boss so that it wouldn't look like I was 20 minutes late
Me, seriously: Friend that's literally 99% of IRL hacking. Human error.
Friend, who is positive about humanity, unlike me: why do you disappoint me like this -
What are the signs that you should quit your programming job? I always work 12+ everyday. I came to the point that I'm starting to get sick. Now my boss is mad because I did not go to work for a reason that I'm not feeling well. Plus, we are having deathmarch project management. I could say I'm already burned out. Don't know what to do.6

My phone broke down yesterday
And... I'm not even mad. I think I have now started to inculcate that these physical things are not that necessary to be there to be happy enough
BTW I did get a spare smartphone from my friend so that I'll be in touch with others via whatsapp.
Also, what phones do you suggest for under ₹20k given the fact that as of now I'm not in mood to buy a Chinese phone
I'm currently thinking about Samsung A50 4GB variant4 -

deploying the apps in production...
Devs: i'm confident enough that i can do this. Docker? wtf, i know how to do it.
after successfully deploy in production, 30 minutes later...
Devs: Hey, team lead. I can't access the DB, why?
Team Lead: what? why? what did you do?
Devs: I just successfully deploy in production using the tutum interface deploy button.
Team Lead: Did you uncheck to deploy the DB again?
Devs: Thinking.... hmmmmm No?
Team Lead: Opppsss, that's good. We can't eat our lunch until we fix it. We need to deploy the db back-up again.
Devs: Did I delete the db?
Team Lead: No? probably not you? LOL's
Devs: But who?
Team Lead: It's tutum but it's your mistake to unchecked to redeploy the db before you deploy the apps :D

Colleague at work gets pissed of when I 'tell' them what to do.
Change tack to suggesting things. These suggestions don't get followed and explosions ensue.
Colleague gets pissed off that I did not prevent these explosions. Simultaneously I get criticised for being angry that my suggestions were not followed, when what I'm primarily trying to do is defend myself for being blamed for the explosions in the place.
You can have your cake and eat it too folks!1 -
I always liked to go through recruitment pipelines, to see what other companies do.
So today I had a meeting with a "talent recruter".
He asked to present myself, my history and what I did in the last three years... In 10 minutes...
So, obviously I did it in 20 mins.
The final response was "not good vibes, and synthesis problems".
WTF? How can I presente a big restructuration, recruting, process, formations, architectures in less thant 15 minutes... Did he wanted that I made drop naming.2 -
I love it!
So I want to understand an new library, to get rid of some functions that are expected to cause some trouble in our main product. Luckily someone did a great job on github, providing a programm that can do what I want in a slightly different, more complicated way. But it is good and we need it anyway.
But instead of understanding the things I wanted to learn, somehow my test programm just didnt work. It just didnt want to. I DID EVERYTHING THE SAME I ALWAYS DID. Without implementing anything new. And it didnt throw any error, debugging showed me what i already knew, BUT NOTHING HAPPEND.
Wasted the day, tried everything, learned nothing.
BTW its written in C, so my error is definitely some tiny dumb shit, that i was too stupid to see... -

Started writing down what i wana do and what comes to mind. Everything that bigs me about my system and so on and make tasks out of the things to complete the days following.
Since i did that i feel less stressed and i can focus more on the stuff since my phone reminds me of thiee tasks all the time so i dont get weird ideas.
What does everyone else do to keep them on track? -
So, I made this: https://github.com/PythonTryHard/...
Aside from the JS code that may trigger the JS devs, I think I did good. Maybe a bit too overboard with the comments.
What do you think guys?2 -
So yeah I do work on windows laptop, with multiple remote sessions into windows servers. (deal with it)
I don't like restarting (who does?) so mostly put laptop to sleep. Sometime it bugs out after several cycles and clipboard stops working.
And I sometimes need copying / pasting texts into similar files on multiple servers.
Damn it, because of this bug I developed a mild paranoia in a sense that once i have text in clipboard I do ctrl+a, del in the target file and then paste, just to see visually that I did in fact successfully pasted that shit. -
Men fo real! I dont rant so much because I think its a negative attitude but let me do it anyway! Listen. My boss boss told me to create a dynamic drop which I did. A backend request then display it on the frontend which is easy, then on code review he ask why do we need this error handling. Bruh as soon as I heard that question, I got covid. Bitch we do need that error handling because if theres error on requests it will set to default options, but I didn’t say anything tho. I just ask what will happen if there’s an error?, he said I don’t think a simple request will respond error if you did it right. Then I agreed and remove the code. Hot damn! Mind you guys. When they started the app there are no test code. 0, nada, nothing inside the spec folder.7

Once I was working on a project that had a few complex implementations that needed to be done. So I got a colleague to get me a few Coronas from the staff bar on a Friday afternoon and did a little overtime. For some reason I was extremely focused, my mind was rushing, and I managed to do some pretty good implementations as well. I guess beer can make you smarter.

Can’t remember the longest “consecutive hours” session, but had a few work days that probably lasted 14 hours ( had breaks though )
Did however do 7 months of work days starting at 6am and ending at 5pm, but had two long breaks most days.
Also did a 21 day working streak once, skipping 3 weekends.
Now I work comfortably 😬 -
My colleagues who work with AWS got trainings and I was supposed to pick out training that roughly corresponds to the content of the AWS training just in Azure. I did that. And as an answer I get a link to the Microsoft Virtual Training Days, where I can do the Fundamentals course and then take the AZ900 exam for free. Cool! Why should you spend money. It's all in the Microsoft documentation.1

Where do you find inspiration for side projects?
Years ago I was full of ideas, and I've had the chance to explore a lot and build experience. I've even built a few successful projects.
But now, between work and university, it seems that my creative thinking is completely shut down.
The few ideas that come to my mind are useless or so trivial that someone else did them already.
What do you do in these cases?3 -
Did you get any seniors like these... we need to do that and that but tomorrow I won't remember and do as I told. 🫠 He won't wake up until any production bug arises.

I love python, when it works.
Im really new and retarded at the language, but i managed to make a small useful program for my dad.
It works perfectly on Windows, yay.
It needs to run on a CentOS server, and for some reason, smtplib wont allow me to log into my gmail when i run it on CentOS :(
And yes, i did install all packages with pip, and i do run it with Python3, same version as i wrote it in.
I also added that nifty shebang that doesnt appear to do shet for me xD3 -
I created a backend thing (mvc) yea all that stuff, Controllers, services, models, views and all that. No i turned out that i also need to do the frontend aswell. Last time i did that was >10 years ago, there was no jquery, angularJS and stuff...
Well ok ill give it a try with angularjs and Wow now i can again create models, Controllers, services, views. Wtf lol
Its like an inception, i wonder when there will be a framework for creating cooler views in angularJS -
I tried, I really did.
But I cannot get the hang of not having a numpad. I have a peripheral numpad, but even that is awkward.
I even tried to mix things up and do the numpad on the left but thumping my mousehand thumb on my desk trying to hit enter 100x a day is just too much.3 -

I really do not understand why people do not use the defaults, I see a PHP code and I see all the PSR's violated, SOLID violated, and as it is something of years, unfortunately we did not get more rapporteur in a timely manner. I didn't go to college, but I must say, what the hell do you guys do in college?
Then many (the good obviously) programmers do not understand why they take so much the fun of PHP, if they see the codes that I see lately...2 -

I was trying to do something in this automation program. I was looking through forums and someone posted a python script that did something sort of similar. Up until that moment I thought programming was for galaxy brains only and never considered getting into it

How is your stand on lying to the stakeholders about the project management.
To give context I worked on a research project for the half a year. Had to report yesterday about what I would do differently if I could start over. I responded truthfully and told that since now I know the caviates of the type of project I did, I would do nearly everything differently. Today I received a feedback from my boss that this was an absolute No Go.
I don't understand now what purpose it would serve to lie towards my stakeholders. Can someone clarify this for me thanks5 -
I'm following a course to become a Fullstack Web Developer. We have class in the morning and in the afternoon we get some "homeworks" to do. In the afternoon we are followed by some tutors that help us understand better what we did in the morning.
I have this one tutor that never answers to my doubts regarding bugs and errors (in my homeworks) and opens new doubts and problems I didn't think I had..
Why do ppl have to do this, like I'm alreay having one trouble that makes me feel unsecure.. Why do you make things bad and never help? -
I don't know how it works with my team but almost always I'm the one who is at the frontier when there is a need to migrate to new technology or to do something that nobody in my team knows how to do including me. So usually when we have planning and nobody wants to take the task I take it because someone has to do it. I think it's not my job to only do the things that I know but I'm expected to work outside my comfort zone and I wish others did the same. What happens after I'm done reading docs, testing and learning new thing is that I have to deliver training about it. The funny thing is that I also have to train experts and I'm below expert6

How do I overcome the fear of failure as a developer? I know that failures are a daily thing in the life of a developer but I'm severely afraid to mess things up. When I was just beginning with Linux, I was watching a lot of tutorials about it. My friend (uses Linux 5 years)told me: "Everyone, in the beginning, should delete python on his system and then try to do something. That is the moment when a boy becomes a man." After this phrase, I thought: "What could happen?" And I did this. People on StackOverflow told me that I'm an idiot when I said, that I can not find terminal and there isn't any GUI. Good company refuced my contracting service. Fuck that. And reasons do not sound good to tell - like team did not want me anymore, maybe too dificult project, I am not independent enough, too many fixes after code reviews. This sucks that I do not know how to fix those parts, I have tried. And about too dificult project - how can I do better on dificult projects, I am not sure. There are projects of similar dificulty in most companies. And if projects would be easy, then everyone does that and reward would be small.18

The fuck symfony again - passwords migration - no error but does not work. One guy in the comment wrote what fixed - I had wrong configuration. Why it cannot give fucking error when the configuration is wrong. And I did not see even in documentation that I need to do that. Today I visited my ex-employer's company website and then checked what is new and what is still same. I was chatbot developer. Then after some hours one colleague(he also left there) told me that our old employer called him and was angry about what did we do. That friend is fullstack dev and I don't know much about those stuffs too. But while surfing the website, I tried to use their platform but couldn't because it didn't give me any resoonse.
So either the employer is dumb, or fullstack dev did something f*kstack and it is broken by just clicking 'login as guest' and receiving nothing. What do you think? -

Don't know how to do it, so copy the answer. (I copy the answers most of the time) The idea is that on the same level, we sum the left or keep going down to left. For right, we just go down there. Little trick is that we use root.left.left or root.left.right.2 -
