We have gotten a rebranding 'document' that we have to implement. It contains 1 image, 4 colors and a new font excluding the font name. Nothing more.
How the fuck did the company pay so much for something so bare bones...2 -
One of our frontend developers was legally blind and was responsible for design.
He did leave his company around 3 years ago but the company was happy with him & his work. What a weird combo :D3 -
Is it normal for a developer to go the customers to troubleshoot a certain problem?
I mean, we got technicians & support department3 -
I've just learned that our front-end application throws a simple 404 error when trying to retrieve an avatar that does not exists.
But our technicians/support use this error in the console to show the customers that there is indeed a problem with the application functionality but have unsufficient logging from the back-end to troubleshoot with their internal tools.
What a bunch of liars trying to keep the customer satisfied and it works relatively well :D2 -
Today a comment from a coworker:
"this <ex-developer> was here for some time. 1.5 year or 2 years... That's like 7 sales-terms of employment :D" -
Kinda funny, the company I work for, has around 1k followers on linkedIn. The only interactions it has on any posts is either from 1 or 2 sales people & 2 founders. Any poll they do on Linkedin has maximum 3 votes3

Recently my work is just making designs for upcoming features / reworks that will probably take months to even start developing. I mentioned a few weeks ago again that I rather write code and now this sprint, it is 100% design tickets :(1

I've had today a meeting with the CEO regarding some designs. Here have some quotes that he made:
1. So you can click, click, click, click, click
2. numbers are so complicated so I just said something
3. I like the vibe in Amsterdam
4. We are doing a rebranding. Our rebranding document is the color of the 2 blues and one orange
5. I've to ask my wife for the design (with no design experience) to make the rebranding documents
6. In <the app our technicians/support use>, you can brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrb
7. This is what differeniate us between most applications; FAVORITE SQUARES
8. I never watch that mess. I don't even know if it works or have ever worked with it. (talking about a simple table view)
9. You have been reported to the admins (in an admin-only application for our customers)
10. It's always nice to see developers think; when I don't think
11. But it's already an iPhone (when looking at android designs & cries in largest userbase in my country)6 -
I currently have a design meeting with the CEO. He joined the meeting on his iPhone mini and the designs are for a desktop app.
What a joke5 -
Last week, my project manager said that next Wednesday (today), we should have a meeting in person... Take a guess who is working from home1
-
Last year, a new project manager started that wants every limitation fixed that was approved by the previous one...
It feels he will open the Pandora's box for very very minor gain. -
my workplace had the idea to create a shared calendar with the birthdays of all colleagues.
Now around 10 months later, this calendar is filled with the birthdays of ex-colleagues... Who thought that was a good idea lol11 -
I just learned that the senior in my team earns more after taxes than my gross salary (medior) per month :(
While he is a full remote worker from a country where the average salary is 60% of my countries average salary.
While i'm certainly happy for his salary... My salary does not look correct compared to his2 -
The only person responsible for the server maintenance has put in his resignation period in.
The other person that has access to the servers does not know the difference between production & lab.
Fun times ahead14 -
Monday is already going. I got the news a coworker is fired for selling company data.
What a shitshow this company is and how does it still exists1 -
Last saturday, the CEO forced us to update one of the services that we are dependent out without any tests... The people responsible for it very much advised against it but they still did it.
Now, nearly a week later. The literal core feature is still broken with no fix in sight and rolling back is not possible apparently.5 -

What is the weirdest shit you have seen in a daily stand-up?
I've just seen a baby horse being born on the daily stand-up.9 -
TIL that the CEO sends cringy videos to the customers but cmon, can you not have the title "Efficiency in your pants"5
-
We hired a new project manager and he decided that we should document our whole platform which was very lacking.
But now, for every minor feature/rework, he expects that it should also be documented. Currently, it feels we have too much documentation that is not easily searchable... Half our time is maintaining Jira and the other 40% is maintaining the code and 10% is developing new features....
Is there a thing as too much documentation?9 -
Recently our devOps grew and the PM decided to split the dailies... Somehow, our dailies now last longer before the split when there are 1/2 of members present....
30 min daily with 12 people becomes a 50 min daily with 6 people... HOW1 -
Amazing, I found someones old devrant profile back accidentally that I used to play video games with. Time to send them a random discord message with a picture of their old laptop :D
-
I applied for a full remote position and got a job offer. The contract however says that I need to be in the office 3 days a week. 2 hours commute one way...
What a waste of time2 -
A manager is remote working for 2-3 months and had a wedding in a different country (including his honeymoon so PTO). After his PTO, today, the HR wanted to do a welcome-back breakfast for him but he is still in a different country for multiple weeks.
How did they not ask him when he is back -
We hired a new developer and our manager (that was not involved in the hiring process) is impressed he actually manages to boot up his computer.
He spend a full 3 days trying to install python, not even setting up our own applications.... Just python...3 -
HR demands everyone to fill in a form to give compliments to all employees of the company for the "national compliment day" in 2 days. You literally have to write something for all employees including people you have never met or heard they existed.
What a time waste.5 -
Yay, our 2FA of our accounts for the stores are linked to the phone number of the CTO who has left the company10

My job is introducing a new system to (legally) avoid some taxes for the employees and get then more netto compensation. But in the meantime, they have removed all benefits of having a (free) home office. No free screens, no free chair, no free keyboard/mouse, ...3
