Open source password manager.

Project Type
Existing open source project
Summary

Open source password manager.

Description
The problem with Dashlane, LastPass etc. is, that they offer a good service but you give your passwords at the hand of a company which might have backdoors. Arcanum is a project of mine to circumvent that. By encrypting passwords and storing them in a personal database. Due to all the code being open source everything is in controll of the user. Currently password management is nearly complete. Additional features like asymmetric encryption, key management and secure notes are planned. The project uses purely Python with PyQt for the GUI and python-gnupg for encryption. Im asking for help to get some ppl with more experience on the security side as I am not an expert in this field. Also due to me only having the weekends to do some small additions any help is really apreciated.

You should keep going with the project, but just to mention it there is already an open-source password manager. https://bitwarden.com/

Entirely agree as for the services/ proprietary ones but do keep in mind that many solutions already exist.

But, if you want to write one: good luck man! It's also a very good way to learn new things.
