*sigh*

So we have this supervisor that I’ve mentioned before in my previous rant(read if interested). This man has been a pain to my side since I started working here. He does a phenomenally good job at being a douche bag and he has the need to resort to screaming and yelling if you happen to disagree with his methodology in any point of you. He likes to make fun of and be little you as well. Oh and I’ll mention he does it in front of all your co-workers. All bad habits and even less from some one in a supervisor position.

I think I’m a pretty reasonable guy, I try to get my work done only asking for help when absolutely necessary ie idk what’s going on or I’m stuck. This guy has the bad habit of breathing over your shoulder while you’re working......... Anyway I hit a breaking point today and waited til he was in his office to confront him.

I asked to walk in politely and asked if I could close the door it was a personal matter. After I sat down and vented to him explaining that what he’s doing with this egotistical persona of his is wrong and it’s creating an environment that cause everyone to feel like shit thus cause lowered work efficiency. I told him that belittling and offending is a bad tactic and that we are grown ass adults. It shouldn’t be necessary for you to yell or make fun of me, shit if I wanted to eat yelled at I’d go home to my father. He’s allowed this guy is not.

Well cutting it short I finished the convo and he didn’t say much just agreed with some points and stressed others that would be too much to mention. I’m not dumb either I recorded the convo just in case he tries to pull something. But I get the feeling like this is gonna turn out really well or it’s gonna go south.

Just wanted to rant to the rantFam first.

I’m done now.

Only asking for help when absolutely necessary? You must be an awesome team player.

Asking for a private conversation, then recording it...

Seems to me the two of you deserve each other.

@ppetermann I appreciate the opinion, and I think the guys and I would all agree we work pretty well together! As for the made for each other not so much. Lol I appreciate the valuable input but he got a guy fired last week for verbally abusing him, for the record I’ve been working with that counterpart for almost two years and this guy couldn’t offend a soul if he tried. I wasn’t going to walk in there and come out as the next guy fired. I see the game his playing, just keeping myself protected. It is my job anyway.

@ppetermann He says the supervisor belittles him. If he asks him questions the supervisor might act annoyed or tell him that it's a stupid question. Would you be able to ask somebody questions if you were afraid they would call you stupid?

@jsframework9000 if I have a question I ask. If I'd have a supervisor (which I had I the past) where I feel get to the conclusion that a productive cooperation is no longer possible, then I see that I either talk to people who can change something, or if I believe no one can I leave for a new job.
And if I felt a conversation might salvage the situation, but I can't trust the person I need to have this conversation with I wouldn't secretly record it, I'd openly ask my hr person to sit in. (and I have done so before)

@ppetermann ultimately everyone finds a solution to there conflict and issues. I’m happy to see that you use a correct avenue to achieve the same goal that I have in mind. I didn’t take the recording to use it against him or to show people or to black mail. I took it as an insurance for my job security. Like everything else in life there are multiple ways to achieve the same end goal. I appreciate your advice and I’ll make sure to approach my next situation with your consideration in mind. I found my solution to be the best for my situation although you disagree with it. All in all the issue was resolved and the recording was erased. He has been acting a lot more professional lately and we even had a coffee this morning. I’m hoping this environment continues to stay less hostile. As I’m sure the guys and I would appreciate it.
