Allllllright. Time for another one of these. It's necessary.

We get it, you don't use/like/acknowledge Google. Please, kindly STFU already with it. The entirety of the smart internet has made your point.

Oh, because I use Google I'm a fucking idiot? No, you are for thinking that. I've used many engines and consistently have they given me worse results. "Oh, it's because they build a search profile for you, they're spying" Yeah, I get it already, fuck off.

Linux is NOT the thing that's going to solve every single human problem, so please stop treating it like a good and saying everything else is complete shit and nobody should use it.

Windows has issue, but so does Linux. At least I can (usually) comfortably update Windows, knowing what the update includes, without having to read the source code fhanges or be scared that there's a fucked up package update.

Just because something isn't open source doesn't mean it's the fucking devil. And just because I USE that closed source thing doesn't make me... Well, anything really, except for a guy who actually gets different programs. Please stop trying to tell me what I NEED TO DO to be a "good person" or user or anything like that, I'm going to do what I damn well please. If that means using Windows with Closed source things like Nvidia drivers and cards, the so be it. Got a problem? Go fuckyourself with it.

I'm guilty in the terms that i don't use google/windows, but this honestly sounds like people are saying "Don't use Google/Windows/Closed Source or you're an idiot." I won't use Google/whatever but definitely won't force you to use Linux/DDG/whatever. It's like saying all Vegans are stupid because there are *some* Vegans out there that push other people to become vegans.

Quick sidenote: I don't have any problems with SEs aside from google.

@romangraef I wasn't trying to say everyone does it, but it's so damn prominent on almost every rant somehow. It got old years ago.

@Rekonnect Then you are right. Those people can fuck of(f). p.s. is it one or two f?

It's a matter of opinion. I can't even access Google due to blocking it out of my entire fucking network.
Closed source software, sure, use it, I just hope I won't ever be on the same network as you when you do. Nothing personal.

Timing though. My blog post this week will be aimed at google. Yes, in a bad way.

On another note, I'm seeing these types of posts increase as well (which is fine, opinions are opinions, nothing wrong with that) so I'll work on another privacy post myself :)

@linuxxx Let's look at a hypothetical. Do you know every single piece of your car and how it interacts with absolutely every other piece? If no, you still trust it to work and get you somewhere, no? If you do know every part, shit. If you don't have a car, double shit.

    @Rekonnect I don't have a car :/.

Whenever I get the free time i'll start learning C and C++ and Java. Because, yes, I am planning on looking through the source code of the Linux kernel and of the Signal app.

My goal is to review the code of every open source app I majorly use (not that many tbh).

Next to that, I'm sorry but I find your comparison bullshit (no offense). Of course I can't look through EVERY line of code but when something is closed source, nobody can.

    I find that dangerous.

@linuxxx Let's be honest here. You know it as well as I do that whatever you're doing isn't enough to stop companies from collecting your data. I'm not saying stop, by all means continue, it does mean LESS data for them. I don't agree with what they're doing, but it's one guy (maybe with a good chunk of the internet as well) against many multinational companies with more resources than we could ever imagine. Keep blocking, but good luck. All the open source software in the world can't save us.

@Lahsen2016 "Nonfree" software isn't evil. In fact, a ton of games, AAA and indie alike, are Nonfree in both the user freedom area as well as the financial area. "Free" software CAN make it so that people may not benefit from their own work as much. Not saying it always will, but it CAN and HAS.

I know it's not a very good example, but it's the first thing that comes to mind.

@Lahsen2016 It's the clash of the two that causes it, unfortunately.

@linuxxx why dk you have c++ on your profile if you're going to start learning it? Just curious not trying to come off as rude.

What wrong with wiping your cache, cookies and history after every browser session and not having a google sign in? That what I do and I use googles engine... I know they see the traffic coming from my IP but meh, I stay away from social medias as much as possible and if they build a profile on my search history then maybe they'll hire me (; because all I really have is tutorials, documentation and learning related material I look up all day so, meh.

@dalastTomCruise I wrote one program in it and put it on my profile back then because I wanted to continue with it. Well, that never happened. I moved to backend/php :)

@Lahsen2016 so basically you hate capitalism?

@Jop- What was the malware that was pulled in? You can report it to other places perhaps too so as to spread the word and force them to look on it.
