I am a scientist. A computer scientist.
I am an engineer. A software engineer.
My lack of a formal college degree does not negate these facts.

It does, however, contribute to the chip on my shoulder.

At my place, collage is nothing but a waste of time..(except sometimes it is a "tag" if it is a reputed one)

Nothing beats self study and hours of frustrating yourself on Google and SO

🙏 thank you. I’m self taught, and college was largely a formality, university was an expensive and largely pointless formality that I ended up dropping out of.

Yes, you need to be able to traverse graphs and do b-trees and big-o notation if you’re gonna be l33t or in academia, but I’m not gonna be the self driving car pioneer or create the next big thing in blockchain tech.

I’m a decent developer, I get shit done, and I’m happy with that.

The amount of fighting I’ve had to do to prove that my lack of a formal training is no reason to discount me has been up and down - luckily with such an influx of graduates, and with it being such a merit-evident field, most companies are abandoning the grad track for proven real world experience.
