My Windows 10 install flies. Boots in seconds and never slows down.
I have 5 year old mid-tier POS MacBook.
You're doing something wrong, very wrong. -
SSD.
You need an SSD to run it fast enough (it's why everyone thinks Macs are so fast). No other components makes as much a difference as an SSD does.
I have an i7 and 8GB of RAM, and yet Windows was slow(ish) till I upgraded to SSDs. -
Who owns a laptop or a desktop without an SSD in 2018?
Masochists or maybe some people living in Bulgarian villages still running Windows 98.

@intromatt
A lot of people without the money to afford SSD based systems? People running on older hardware?
Also, a lot of manufacturers price their SSD based systems really high. And put shit hard drives in all the lower models.
I bought my laptop in stages, first the HDD version, then the SSD upgrade some time later. I have an external hard drive now as a bonus :p -
@RememberMe well, actually my ubuntu run on ssd.
And yes, ssd is too expensive, I can't afford 2 pcs of 512gb ssd.
I just write this rant when I log into windows and its start doing its thing... What I mean thing in here is "We're preparing your pc for you, it's gonna be fast" shit -
@gajahterbang weird, man.
My Windows boots up and shuts down faster than every Linux distro I've tried. -
Windows is considerably faster than any OS I've ever used on similar hardware and SSDs are cheap as fuck.
This isn't 5 years ago, you can buy a 256GB SSD for under $100. Considering the MASSIVE performance improvement and cheap cost, not having an SSD in your system today is fuckin ridiculous.
I bought an M2 256gb WD SSD a few weeks ago for my wife's NUC for 75€ brand new (latest model).
How much cheaper do you want them to be?
@Lahsen2016 -
Of course it does, the horseshit some people post here is fuckin retarted at times.
Windows 10 KILLS a Ubuntu or Mint install in terms of performance on my old POS MacBook..
Not just booting. Just opening and using apps.. Way faster in Windows, it's not even close. Ugh.. @RememberMe -
Just for kicks I should do a couple of videos of virgin native installs of Win10 and Ubuntu.
9 times out of 10 a comparable Windows 10 app will open faster, much much faster. @Lahsen2016 -
@intromatt you should man, you should.. For science.
I don't know why my windows sucker than my ubuntu. Another thing I hate about it is how persistent the update is.
WHY
WINDOWS
10
IS
FRCIKIN
SLOW!!!!!
And why when I see a question about turning off the update, the answer is always "why you want to disable the update? Its dangerous you know bla bla bla bla"
I dckin KNOW!!! I JUST WANT TO MAKE THIS FUCKIN MACHINE CAN RUN LIKE A NORMAL i7 and 16GB of RAM!!!
Oh, and for the record, I have installed ubuntu on my first hardisk, and win on my 2nd hardisk which is I installed for gaming purpose only
