I am not sure how to feel about myself anymore.

Well this is kind of vague but I see that you tagged self taught. I'm completely self taught and live in a world where at my job I literally run circles around the developers but won't get promoted because I don't have a degree. And a degree in development to me is nonsense. Maybe its good for some people but not me... I can learn like a boss and I have all of human knowledge at my finger tips, and this industry changes all the time, you have a degree from 15 years ago, great DOS is awesome right, what have you done to keep up. Just do what you do man and work on your own projects and get experience at work... Eventually I optimistically believe I will make it on my own or a company will recognize me for my talent.
