WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU ???

Galaxy S8 5.8" Quad HD+ Super AMOLED (2960x1440)
570 ppi

Galaxy S8+ 6.2" Quad HD+ Super AMOLED (2960x1440)
529 ppi

oh my fucking god, what kind of retard decided this ?

This resolution is waaaaay too much. It impacts performance and battery life a fuck ton and gives you absolutely nothing in return. I would be cordially surprised if there was someone in the world who could see more than 400 ppi. 300 is more than enough for most of the people.
God these fucks are annoying with their retarded marketing. And even more so, the people who buy these phones, because phone manufacturers can and will continue doing so.
Flagship my ass.

i have a 2560x1440 24" monitor at home, and even though the viewing distance is a bit longer, there's way too much pixels to distinguish them. 6" ? what the fuck.

Reminds me of apple retina display when it was the new shit. Someone at a company i worked at got it and was all hyped "look, you can't see the pixels!" and kept pushing the phone into people's faces. Surprise : you CAN see the pixels with the phone on your face because because it's not a magical new technology, they just increased the dpi to the point where pixels can't be differentiated at a 30cm distance.

Soon there will be 4k on phones and someone will love it!

Yes it is too much. But you can change the res in the settings of Samsung smartphones. The only thing they did right while customizing android...

@@CWins 4k is in phones for a couple of years now. Xperia Z5 Premium

@ThinkBigDev you actually can ? cool, i had to root my own LG to do that.

@teganburns oh... that does actually make sense. But then why not use 1080p for everyday usage, and the higher one only for VR ?
  • 1
@teganburns even if it did, i was ranting about the general state of phones. Most of the phones, as far as i know, don't allow to change this without rooting.

And here I am with my 18 inch 1366x786

I just modified "medium" powersave to behave like normal except the screen is locked to HD. A friend of mine also has a S8 she didn't notice a thing.

My phone is 1440p. Can go a day with it

Yes as others have said, the S8 and S9 are at 1080p by default. You can go in to display settings and modify the resolution to 720p or 1440p without rebooting.

IDK, I went from my office ( 21 in, normal res ) to using my gaming monitor regularly ( 27 in, 2560 x 1440 ) for programming.

While I miss the office for other reasons,

I dread to think of going back to the shitty monitors.
