I believe the biggest shortcoming of modern pc hardware like ryzen or
i(5|7|9)s is the lack of Ram support.

Buffered Vs Unbufered, registered or unregistered, what does it matter? It's just Ram!

I call that discrimination.
Reg ECC Discrimination!

    Implementing this things take time and need to be built into the architecture. Usual consumers don't really need it and don't want to pay the extra -> Don't include it.
    If you want to use it, buy the corresponding product.

    @Kimmax

    You are right, this was rather meant as a joke.
    And me whining about only having reg ECC around and now needing normal Unbufered ddr4.

    @RageBone you'd have been fine with unbuffered ecc, but in that case you're doomed

    @Kimmax i'm not so sure about Unbufered ECC, on ryzen depending on the motherboard.
    But on intel consumer stuff your probably doomed even with Unbufered ECC.

    Otherwise, why would intel have their E3 xeons that only support Unbufered (ECC)

    @RageBone IIRC ecc on non ecc mobos depends on bios and chipset. Some ignore it, some don't. Registered ram needs that juicy extra signals tho, so these shouldn't work under any circumstance

    @Kimmax
    well, guess I have to try Unbufered ECC next on my boards.

    @Kimmax what where you doing that you have such experience ?

    @RageBone coding for 6 years + full-time employment in system-integration for almost 3 years now + about one year part time system-integration
    Me and my colleague do everything ourself, from part selection for new servers, to building hypervisor images for said servers, building high availability clusters out of said servers (you have to consider the extra time to carefully select the parts and build the infrastructure behind them) and finally deploying all sorts of containers / vm's on the cluster
    Downside of doing everything yourself? You still have to deal with first level support :D

    @RageBone also I did some quick research to make sure the shit I say is somewhat correct
