And HR looked upon the company and said "let there be no dress-code", all devs cheered in celebration and vowed to make the day a holiday

I wanted to rant about dress-code. I fucking hate it. Why do devs need tucked in shirts? We are not selling anything. Why the fuck do they that to people? >_<

I see it as a matter of image for your company's clients...

I don't have a dress code but when I worked in financial I saw it was justified to use a business suit. When your client's mindset is "suit = professional" and "casual clothes means casual work ethics" it is important to project a sense of professionalism...

However, if you are trying to project casual and stress free work environment, a dress code states the opposite...

And remember that even in a software house clients do come over and usually write checks in those visits...

I work in Tshirt, shorts and thongs (flip flops for those non aussies out there). Gotta love startups.

Dress code? What's this evil beast you speak of?

I wear random 80's & 90s pop-culture, horror themed, or just random T-shirts every day. It's become a game among some coworkers to try to figure out the reference during lunch.

If there's a dress code they better add an extra digit to my paycheck!
