Im so fucking disgusted with the paternalistic superiority complex so many techbros have.

They see themselves as the new elite priestly class, protectors of the Sacred Tech, convinced everyone else is too stupid to handle themselves.

The answer to stupidity is not to keep people in the dark, enforcing only more stupidity. What a dismal worldview. Treat other humans with respect and dignity and they will surprise you.

@Charon92 yeah, i know how frustrating it is. It drives me nuts trying to explain what seem to me to be basic things, and im sure other people feel that way when *I* ask them certain questions too...

But thats one thing you know, thats just frustration. Thinking you're better than someone else, that level of entitlement is only arrogance, not wisdom.

It's inevitable, those type of devs are idealistic. The usual company being composed with pragmatic, opportunistic and idealistic types.

The idealists will usually see the code and tech as the end not the means.

@JKyll interesting distinction, that makes a lot of sense, I wouldn't have thought of it that way!

@baeovvulf I recommend you read "Developer hegemony" by Erik Dietrich, it outlines those concepts and it definitely sheds a new light on a lot of phenomena that you see in college and at work

@Hu-bot0x58 the ones that see that going up doesn't always mean doing what you are told.

I read "master of their craft" and chuckled.
We work with a craft that is unmasterable
But a lot of people do think they are masters of it anyway.

    Have fun.
Just teach what you know and listen to what others have to trach too, you might be closer to master, otherwise you are just an asshole full of its own shit
