py2js27657yStay for years? Either you are playing with an intern's life or intern is playing with his life

@Condor Interns getting the same wage as full time employees? No, and I'm saying that and I was an intern. We got decent pay, but not as much as FTE. I didn't know anywhere near as much as the group I was assigned to, and didn't know how the business operated. Why would I get paid as much as someone with experience, knowledge of how the business operates, and me not even be done with school yet? I learned a lot in the program, it wasn't exploitation at all, and I was hired right away. There is no prolonged time involved, so we're aren't talking a year long internship here.

@Condor The main point of the program is to get students work experience and have them involved in real world projects in whatever their field is. However, they aren't doing the heavy lifting like FTE are and don't know as much as others do, so we pair them with professionals. Once their program is up, they get an offer or they can leave with work experience to put on their resume. You can despise it all you want, I liked the program when I did it and had no complaints.

@Condor Yes. I thought that was self explanatory in the original post at the part about them getting hired.

Boss: We need to hire more people, lower your technical requirements.
Me: Why not just hire interns. They're cheaper, we can mold them into the role faster, and most interns get hired after school and stay for years.
Boss: ... we can do that?
The boss knows I started off as an intern at the company. π
