There is no technical reason why Microsoft should buy Github, no!
It's the same reason why they bought Skype, LinkedIn and Minecraft and everything else: Money and monopolisation.
That's destructive and an obstacle to progress.

Exactly my point! The motive is $$ and monopolisation! That’s why they ruined minecraft: to go for the sweet sweet mom’s stolen credit card money.

Now they would have control over the largest dev community and one of the most important tool they use. That’s some big power and it seems easy for m$ to cross that line
