So you're saying that a negligible portion of the world's power consumption (most of which was already there, it was just redirected) is going to cause global warming far more than pollution caused by all our garbage and toxic waste, inefficient old factories and systems, and shitty global resource management?

    Does not check out/10

@endor I’m not saying anything about pollution. I just wanted to show that amount of electricity usage by mining crypto currencies would speed up ice melt down. Some articles proclaim this usage in 2019 would be same as united states electricity consumption. I even don’t want to say if ice melting down is a bad or good thing. Might be that it’s a good thing after all.

    > some articles proclaim

Yeah, no. As a small scale miner who has a clue on the topic, I can assure you that those articles are worthless bullshit written by "journalists" who apply random statistical projections to their data without a clue on how mining works, just for the sake of getting a few clicks and stirring people's reactions.

Don't lose your sleep over it, not gonna happen.
(Also, ice melting is terrible for our climate, but there's so much money involved in the whole business that it's gonna take a while for things to - hopefully - change)
