This might sound like generalisation but the amount of paper people in France (atleast Paris) waste uneccesarily is shocking. It disturbs me to see some jackass printing pages after pages of garbage in the office each time they want to check if a printer is working as expected. Or the professors using huge white sheets to explain shit when the white board is right fucking behind them (to add to it, they use only one side of the sheet). Or literally every single store handing out paper receipts for a 1€ chocolate I buy. Why isn't their a digital alternative? Why are people so not bothered about how much they're fucking the planet just coz they have enough resources to live happily?

If machines ever overthrow humanity, I'm sure they'll do a better job in tidying up everything.

    Because paper is a renewable source. You can grow more trees. Infact most cutters are held to strick regrowth numbers for amount cut. So no one cares because it is eather going to die in a brush fire or decay on the ground.

    Also paper is recyclable. But most stores offer alternatives here in the us. You can ask that a slip not be printed or email be sent.

    Sadly most people care but not enough to actually be bothered with the alternative. Also that email needs a server and computer that use electricity that comes from sometimes bad sources of energy. So in some cases choping down a tree and printing would be better for the environment.

    Its more important it get recycled than anything. Paper can be recycled 5 to 7 times.
