I learned computer science so i can create a small game some day. I spend my entire time on web development coz thats what makes money in my lame ass country. I come home too tired to go into game development which is an entire world to explore by itself. Cant apply to other countries coz game development companies wont recruit a web developer (i tried). Fuck my life

    I feel you. Entirely.
I'm mean, it's actually part of my daily struggle.
Currently I'm learning the way of the VR development in hopes of getting a job in one the game studio here in my city.
But boy, it's hard to work all day and them getting home and work more.
But it will pay with time, so soldier on, friend.
Me and you will both get there, eventually.

If it makes you feel any better. Making games sucks and earns no money.

I tell this all the time... Are you even a dev if your dream deep under is not game development?

@webdev i know right - what can interest you in programming more than being able to create a universe with looks and laws and creatures all acting in whatever way you decide.

@sleek I've fought the good fight for a year. Then, for some reason, grew tired of it. Guess VR wasn't for me in the end.
However, I decided to follow a path that I had to stray from years ago and, somehow, it payed of.
Well, not entirely. Not yet, at least. But life has been more generous since then.

Used to be focused on Machine Learning during college. And had a deep interest in Data Science. So, at some point, I thought: why not?
Added some knowledge on Supply Chain Management et voila: life is good again.

I'm still not working on the field, as I believe I'm still a bit wet behind the ears, but at least I'm able to put some of it into practice on my current job.
If everything goes right, at the end of 2020 I might be able to join another company and work with that... Or I can join the 5G research team of my own company, which overlaps in almost everything I'm focusing right now.

    Things are moving forward, somehow.

    But what about you?

@DarkMelchiah i am happy to hear you are pleased with the fruit of your labor. I hope you get into a full time job in the field soon, jobs are the best teachers as i came to find it.

I ended up working in a company I love but just as you, the game development life is not for me or at least not in this point in time. I am now a backend developer who sometimes dabbles in random technologies in my free time. I am enjoying it so far. Guess i just hated the frontend part of the job mostly.

    until our paths cross again..
