    if you want absolute privacy, use the russian app called XMPP (Xabber)

    Discord and Telegram are a privacy joke. As for the Russian app, nothing is private under the Russian Government, since the [key disclosure law] applies strongly there. You can use Kontalk, or Signal (although Signal may not be as privacy-oriented as it used to be). @Linuxxx is far more knowledgeable than me though, he'd have a more definitive answer.

    (Wire has been getting a lot of shit, but nothing proves that's it's actually not private. Choice is yours anyways).

    @TheOct0 @SukMikeHok Telegram isn't owned by a large media corporation but it's insecure and a privacy nightmare while it advertises as secure and privacy friendly and I find that combination dangerous.
