    Does anyone else sense eerie similarities to the decline and fall of the Roman Empire? Those guys declined on the backs of that most barbarous (what an interesting word to use here) and brute-force technology: slavery. We're slightly more sophisticated in that we use silicon, but the point remains.

    (Yes there were plenty of other factors, and it can be argued that the people of the Roman Empire did just fine, thank you, until Rome and Constantinople (respectively) fell, but I'll also appeal to the pop culture caricature of the decadant Roman (any fans of Asterix here?)).

    @RememberMe there are definitely parallels, but our people also have a lot more freedom, among other benefits that Roman culture didn’t allow.

    @exploreTheC oh lol, actually from all accounts the upper class Romans had very little restrictions, leading to tons of debauchery and stuff. Kinda glad modern society isn't that bad. Mostly. Generally.
