That rage when you reinstall Ubuntu MATE on its partition, and it decides to nuke your Windows partition instead, with all the files you had on it too.

FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK

HOW HARD CAN IT FUCKING BE TO INSTALL YOURSELF WHERE I FUCKING TELL YOU TO? WHY THE FUCK DO YOU EVEN ASK ME WHAT TO DO, IF YOU'RE GONNA HAVE A MIND OF YOUR OWN ANYWAY?
DIE IN A FIRE

Yeah, I'm pretty sure an installer used by millions of people didn't suddenly became sentient.
Are you sure you didn't just do it wrong?

Sounds like a layer 8 problem to me

You want to know who is to blame? Go grab your phone, open the camera app, make sure the front camera is on. Have a very good look at the culprit.

If you want a second opinion go look for it in a mirror.

Happened to me a year ago, while choosing dual boot. With the only difference that the installer decided not to create a new partition, instead it just formatted my 1 TB data drive and then made me die inside.
That's definitely not very newbie friendly if you just want to try out Ubuntu

@PrivateGER sigh, I guess I must have, it was very late last night... I definitely recall myself selecting the old linux partition to replace, and that was the only partition I remember touching (I clearly remember a single line of changes listed in the confirmation dialog too, and I have no duplicate partitions either...)

    Oh well, such is life
