Today was not a good day for me at all ,being considered a junior developer is not a good thing.
Yes I know due to my lack of the understanding of your 3 years old code base I could not meet up with the deadlines.
So as a punishment one of our senior devs asked me to bring my chair to his desk and told me to commit and push my progress every ten minutes .
He'll then review reading each code line by line ., Reverting too.
The worst part was that for the ten minutes I'll need to wait another 5 , because he was watching some Fifa19 gameplays on YouTube.
This went on for 3 hours .

It worked because I feel like a title noob today .

Your "senior" colleague is a fucking self centered piece of shit

Working on same thing for 3 years in one place doesn't make you a senior. Especially when it's gotten to the point where instead of working hes watching fifa.

I started working in a similar place and was in a similar situation. I was 23 years old fresh grad with experience only from some hobbie projects. And there was a 28 years old guy with economics degree who worked there 1 year and was considered senior by everyone and I was his "trainee".

Motherfucker didn't even knew how to use git and built an unmaintainable .NET desktop app with static variables and memory leaks all over the place.

Instead of using a REST API fucker was constantly exporting xml files from database, uploading them to domain shared folder and all our staff combined had 30+ instances of his piece of shit .NET app running and reading those xmls

Fucking manchild I called him, not a senior. Left 8 months later and never looked back. Best decision

From your description that sounds like a bad environment. Look for a better place to work but learn what you can from that place while you're there, even if it's the what-not-to-do. That information is valuable too.

@duckWit I'd argue that knowing what not to do is even more important
