    @FrodoSwaggins
    Just stop.
    I'm already afraid of my next semester's.
    You don't need to make it worse.

    Does ring theory have any play in cryptography? I don't really know what it is but I remember coming across it reading about ECC

    @metamourge don't worry. Remember all you need is excel for your bread and butter

    @FrodoSwaggins metric space

    @arunkumar413 In my country that's all you need for a freshly prepared Jollof Rice.

    ...yeah, my precalc teacher gave me a D the second time so she’d never have to see me again...

    That said, I do get amused every time someone posts a variant on “another day and I *never* used any algebra!”

    Basic mathematics is still algebra. It’s just that you only ever have to solve for X, which is conveniently already isolated on the right for you.

    @beegC0de

    Does non-abelian group ring a bell?

    You haven't learnt any maths within the latest two centuries

    @beegC0de abstract algebra in general is extremely important to cryptography
    Groups, rings, fields, the whole thing

    @FrodoSwaggins

    After learning non-commutative algebra, you'd build a bridge to jump off :)

    @FrodoSwaggins Endless respect.

    @FrodoSwaggins

    It could be depends on how deep you studied. What was your thesis about if you don't mind me asking?

    @FrodoSwaggins

    Kool. Sounds like you've been out of research since a while.

    @beegC0de there is ring based cryptography, but the classically most famous is the group based one
