I been casually looking for a new job as a senior software engineer. I have about 7 years of experience, mainly back end, and it seems like everyone has a different way of doing technical interviews. What type of questions would you expect to be asked? I've gotten everything thing from white board code and solutions (expected), technical questions (expected), to code an API from scratch (not hard, but not really a good judge of skills). How do you identify whether a job is a sweatshop vs. a good job?

    Talk to current and/or past employees if you can. See if the company is hosting any meetups you can attend, otherwise you could try reaching out through LinkedIn. Every place I’ve interviewed at also gives a tour of the facilities and gives you an opportunity to ask questions on the first in-person interview, so take advantage of that.

    All good ideas. At the last interview that was about writing an API, I asked about on call. The guy was like, "oh, I handle all of the calls for this app; you would be added to the rotation." Peace out!
