Copypasta code commits are usually annoying to mentally scan. If you add a linting tool (ESLint) to the repo, then two rules that could circumvent said issues:
Enforce minimum and maximum identifier lengths (id-length):

Enforce a maximum line length (max-len):
https://eslint.org/docs/rules/...
when your code is a mess but everything work out in the end
When you keep getting +1s on a rant you posted a month ago.

I've been looking at the shittiest code today. Hundreds of lines saying
this.thing.otherThing.EvenAnotherThing[this.someFuckingIndexThatShouldntBeAField].theOnlyBitThatsDifferentPerLine.AlsoNoneOfTheNamesWereThisMeaningful
Over and over. They're all wider than the editor window. Clearly copy pasted. Just make a fucking variable Jesus Christ how do you expect anyone to read that
