You know a devOps/sysadmin is doing their job and a good one when you dont need them

The fun thing is (working as a support and Linux server engineer for a hosting company so slightly different context) that while we're not cheap as for managed servers, some clients don't realize what they get.

There's times you get a client on the phone who is angry about 30 minutes downtime last night and then its quite satisfactory to hear their apologies when you can tell them that two engineers got called out of bed to fix it at 3 am :D

Doing a good sysadmin job is awesome.
