vane110526yDepends how scrum works in your organization 😂
In my project it takes no time from person who is leading meeting and I am in opinion that this role should traverse each week or month among team members. -
It can work but it depends on how mature your company is with being agile. If you take it serious it will definitely take a big chunk of your time. I worked as scrum master and developed but at the end I wanted to code more so I finally changed jobs.

IMHO, scrum master only works well if it's the *only* thing you're doing - otherwise the scrum master duties will always get pushed to one side.
...and since it's not really a dev role as such, it's not necessarily a great career step if that's what you want your focus to be. -
LMagnus20575yDepends on the size of the team and the nature of the project. In the past I've successfully combined being a Senior Developer and a Scrum Master on a relatively small team of four developers on an internal application.
But for a large multi-discipline agile team for a public facing service I think it would make more sense to have a dedicated Scrum Master.
You could reduce the burden by following a Kanban approach but still take some of the Scrum ceremonies such as daily stand ups, and regular show and tells and retrospectives. If that's suitable for your project.
I'm working as a senior software developer at my company.
My seniors are asking me to take the scrum master role.
Is it good for my professional development.
Will I be cut off from the technologies that I work on now. I don't want to leave development. Can I do both at once?
