I have a coworker who talks the most during scrum and not saying anything of substance or actionable in that whole time. He answers questions with a sentence paraphrasing the questions putting himself in a third person, waived him of responsibilities, but acknowledging the issue in the asked questions without providing any real solutions, leaving us looking at each other wondering wtf just said. But all knows too well not to ask a follow up questions. Or you gonna be here a while.

Utter waste of my time.

Sounds like someone has mastered the art of slacking off while trying to look both competent and productive. Of course this is an illusion easily seen through, but if management isn't paying attention it can pay off for a long time.

@powerfulparadox yeah he has been getting a way for a while. But PM and lead devs are finally noticing his bullshits front.

I wonder which company do you work for and how he got hired in the first place.

@theprogrammer welcome to devrant! I’d rather not say where I work, the coworker may be in here as well. Also our hiring process has been really good in the past, this was a combination of we REALLY needed additional devs, and he was good enough to bullshit his way into the role. His coding test result wasn’t at the level we would have wanted for his position. Hopefully he learns quick and mature into his role. This bullshit isn’t sustainable long term.

@uvuvwevwevwe, How much years of experience does he have? Do you think if he does that knowingly or unknowingly?

Because we have also got a chatty dev in our team, i wonder how to approach, i am thinking of explaining the problem to him, what do you think?

Also i see you belong to Washington DC, are there many developer jobs there?
