i think mobile and pc manufacturers should reduce the magnitude of 0% screen brightness, it looks 100% at night

    I suggest using Flu.x on Windows or Redshift on Linux to help a bit with that.

    PS: It's recommended to always have a light on nearby when you're watching a screen.

    I have to be careful on my phone. If I turn brightness down to 0, the backlight shuts off and I can't see shit.

    The problem is voltage regulation: LEDs (in an LCD backlight, or in an AMOLED screen) have a weird voltage response curve so you need extremely precise with the control for low brightnesses, which requires expensive and bulky electronics.

    (I think, I may just be talking out of my arse cos I'm no expert)
