Some guy: Dude what're you doing?
Me: Making an app.

Goes ahead to ask what an app is, I give him a brief and try to show him some features of my app.

Some guy: So that means you can "make your own" facebook. Why not build something like Facebook or WhatsApp?

Speechless...

My goto for this is always "Well imagine if you were trying to get into the movie business. Would you try and directly compete with Disney, or would you try and find a market that Disney doesnt have a 100% monopoly on? Exactly."

And if they say compete directly, you just kinda ask them why and then they'll realize its a stupid idea, or they'll continue saying that and you'll realize you're talking to a braindead autist.

I mean let’s be honest, the growing trend is to follow what everyone else is doing, look at these new streaming services coming to light from these old ass companies that are branching out of the mainstream platforms, they are all following one another to turn a profit. That’s how things are now and how easily you can miss out on minds such as that person who asked you a “stupid” question where as I find those people to have an entrepreneurial mindset and they not even knowing it. Don’t miss out on collaborating with those types of people, they are all hard to come by and who knows what connections they might have?
