Sick of seeing the 'proprietory is the devil' fucking argument, I'm super keen for the pine phone and to a lesser extent the librem 5 but seeing people already boycott them because they still use some proprietary libraries and components...

Who gives a fuck, yes open source is better for those who love to tinker and learn the inner workings but there is nothing wrong with using proprietary software on one of these devices.

It's the same toxic shit as 'microsoft bad, Linux good' and we really need less of it around

Now you’ve gone and upset the keepers of the scroll of open source.
    Queue the *reeeeeeeeee*’s

There will always be "extreme people" in everything. Just check any privacy related subreddit to see that for some, if you're not living in a bunker with your own satellites network, you're not doing anything to protect your privacy.

While I do agree that it's important to aim for more open source, and private solutions, every little step in the right direction should be considered good.

To add fuel to the flame, we live in a world where people will pay big companies to use their proprietary software to mask there activity from big companies and their proprietary software... And yes I did just explain VPN's

@lxmcf What best way to make money than sell weapons to both sides in a conflict?

@lxmcf the 'common' VPNs are mostly used by people who have no actual clue of what a VPN is or is actually for nor what it actually does (and those who do and just need a web proxy and can't be arsed to set up their own)
