I'm not sure why but I'm always super caught up on the aesthetic of my coding. Like the code editor has to have the right colors and format and I hate getting so stuck on inconsequential aspects of work.

    Me too. It takes me quite awhile to get everything set up just right, but after that it's beautiful and easy to work with, and ever so worth the effort.

    I have spent the last 6 years tweaking and perfecting my zsh, tmux, and vim dotfiles.

    For vim, I have both work machine and server machine versions that have `install` scripts.

    I hear you loud and clear.
