Are there any Game Devs out there? Most of the posts I see are web and app developers!

    @Lyniven game dev is my creative outlet! Regular development just gets monotonous

    @Agred looks like it yea, what your engine of choice?
  • 1
    @nurox I'm simple. Unity.

    @Agred Unity is great, used to be a favourite of mine for 3D work

    I like to mess around making stuff in Qt. I would like to make an old school pseudo text based game with 2D and 3D elements.

    @Demolishun a text based adventure game?

    @nurox More nethack/rogue style. But possibly with text descriptions of what is happening.

    @Demolishun actually I'm working on an a 2D adventure game, haven't had this much fun in quite some time

    @nurox I was thinking about making a Dragon Warrior clone. The engine would be fun to write. I know someone who could do artwork too.

    @Demolishun ahh you've brought up the most difficult part, finding good artists to work with! The engine part is usually the fun part!

    @dmoa Ahem indeed

    @Nanos I got a book about procedurally generated content. I think with tech now this could be done for graphics in games. Like subscribe to a database of content that can assemble new artwork. I am not sure how they do it, but I have seen face generators that look life like.

    @Demolishun Sounds Like generative model for me

    I work on boring city builders to earn my daily bread.

    @OneOfSimpleMind like SimCity? Those can be fun. Can crime break out? LOL, make a city builder game where people can log in and play GTA style in the city you are managing! Holy shit, that is a cool idea for a game. Can you imagine playing your game and you can watch other players causing GTA events all over town?

    @Demolishun Lol no. More like doll-house city builders were you just build and stare at what you did. You can also stare at other player's creations but that's it. Super sad. I'm a simple employee and those games bring in a steady stream of income so I think they'll stay nice and boring for a while.

    @Nanos yea, I start off that way as well, have crude graphics, once most of the game is done I end up hiring someone to create everything I need
