@ScriptCoded
Give it time, you too can be jaded and expect very little of other humans as well 😉 -
irene33915yOn my first read I thought there was a bunch of English but it turns out my brain was casting it to English because of similarities.
You have “con” for with like in a Latin language probably because there is some Italian inspired foods on the menu. You have fish as fisk like maybe a Scandinavian language. Plus the diacritics. Is this Sweden? -
@irene Haha yes, Sweden. I think the owners are Swedish as well. Looked in my bio? :p

irene33915y@ScriptCoded Oh no. Haha. That would have been easier. I took a guess.
I guessed central Mexico because there is a lot of Italian influence there. Central Mexico has a ton of taquerias that serve “tacos al pastor” so the donair cooking style made sense. Also Mexico has a ton of grilled fish dishes. Papas fritas was on the menu at least once. Where there is enchiladas there is a restaurant with tortillas. Mexican was the only thing that made sense to me with this mix of food.
I guessed Sweden because IKEA has lax written on some fish dishes on the menu. It is memorable to English speakers because the only word that starts with lax in English is laxative. Many jokes have been made about eating too much lax at lunch and accidentally shitting yourself while lost in IKEA. -
@irene
Just a note, Al pastor was introduced to Mexico by Lebanese immigrants. -
irene33915y@SortOfTested It’s Mexican food now. No need to cite sources.
When you culturally appropriate a food so well that the originating culture distances themselves from it it is part of your culture now. Your culture has made that food its bitch.
Canadian examples: Pumpkin spice hummus. Ginger beef. Calamari potato chips. Peanut butter dumplings. Nova Scotian donair. Mild salsa sauce (Es: “salsa salsa sosa”). Honey garlic paneer stir fry. Apple pie baklava. Vegan pâté.
I see you probably aren't that tech savvy
