I overcomplicated shit yet again.
Last year we had taken over a massive project, where the main problem was an abundance of design patterns. I was (who am I kidding, I still am) a newbie, and most patterns I'd seen the very first time. By the end of it I learned what they're good for, but now I love design patterns for what they are rather than the problems they solve. I write the same horror that I saw and I know full well how terrible it is, but I Just. Can't. Stop.

What do I do?

    Forget about them.

Seriously, they were all the rage in the early 2000's, and some are still useful to know, but they haven't stood the test of time particularly well and many that were once ubiquitous are now considered... less than optimal shall we say.

@halfflat I already did. Still making that mistake every fucking time. The only software projects I've finished were websites with little backend functionality.
