Best tip is to search for js beginner tutorials.

As a beginner its better as those are more verbose than we can do here.

Then if there are more specific questions thats something else :)

That one contains a lot of useful notes concerning Javascript as a language with a lot of very useful examples. I would suggest going through them and building simple scripts etc. For additional documentation you can use the Mozilla docs, those are pretty good and go more in dept with the language.
