Whatcha thinking about the
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8
(i7-10510U, 16GB, 512GB, 1080p)?
Found one for a dirt cheap price (campus discount) and think about buying it.

I'm largely using linux, including somewhat exotic distros like Void,Gentoo, Alpine.

Three things:

1. Its nice, but doesn't offer enough ram skus. The extreme gen 2 is much better for the money.
2. The low end 1080p for it is shit, get the 400nits display
3. Wait to buy one until the next refresh, ryzen and 16:10 offerings are on the way

They're certified for Ubuntu and fedora/rh, but I also have arch stable on them.

1. The Extreme is way out of my budget and 16GB are enough for me.
2. The 1080p display has 400 nits.
3. Can't argue with that, but I'm afraid they will replace the current models in the campus program with the new models at a higher price.
