I mainly using react/svelte + node on making web projects, but I wanted to learn new things outside JS environment. Should I learn RoR(Ruby) or Phoenix(Elixir)?

P.S. I will learn the language first before jumped into the framework

@Benutzername well you can say that I want something like Laravel, but not php or js based🤔

Both Laravel and Phoenix aim to be like RoR.

My take is go with RoR, way more tools and documentacion than Phoenix and not as niche as Phoenix

eeeeeeeeven then, Phoenix is great, because elixir is an awesome language to learn. But in the event of looking for work in this you would be better served with RoR.

If you're looking for a new language to learn, Go and Clojure should be at the top of your list

@hamido-san you are kidding, right? Clojure? Really? I mean, whatever floats your boat, but I don’t see why it would be at the top of any recommendations list anywhere... (I would say the same about Go as well, but to a lesser degree)

That said, if you wanna learn new stuff for employability, look at the job market around where you are first.

I know somewhere Ruby and/or Go devs are sought after > here zero job market.

There are options, many many options. If you want something similar to Laravel without being PHP, can’t help you: got zero knowledge about Laravel (and I’m a PHP dev by day....)
