Google Search Console insists there is "content wider than screen" on a one-pager I did which works very well on all tested sizes and devices, and scores 90+ on Google PageSpeed Insights.

"Validation failed - see details."

Clicked on "see details", and only saw the 1 URL I already knew, which seems to be working fine for everyone. If Google detetcs an actual issue, it would be really helpful to provide some details, otherwise this kind of false-positive crap only serves to care less about their tools (which is a bit of a shame, as they do provide a lot of value most of the time).

It's when you don't provide padding and images don't look good and font size is smaller or anything like that, you can search, many people have the issue.

@theabbie thanks for your suggestions. Normally I know how to solve these issues, as I do it professionally, but what annoys me a lot is when the issues are not really problems but rather unnecessary perfectionism - at least they seem to be.

I already spent some hours looking for the usual suspects, adding css * { outline ... } etc. then deployed my fixes and told Google to re-validate, then got a bit of a bad mood when they replied it's not fixed without providing any more details, like they know and holding back the information on purpose, but I know they don't, it's just an automated workflow, and it was supposed to be helpful...
