Is it so much to ask to feel appreciated and secure at a job if you make sacrifices and endure ridiculous stress of ownership and responsibility?

Why do I have to constantly go through life wondering if my name is going to be a top level item on a budget sheet ready for the cut ? And then I’m not supposed to be upset
Just work to the end like a good little monkey and HOPE I Have another job on its way

You always have to make sure your employer is giving you the opportunity to keep your skills relevant unless you’re coming up to retirement and don’t want another job after.

As long as you’re relevant you’ll always find development work if they lay you off, and that means you don’t have to worry. You can be quite easy-come-easy-go about it.

But the downside is sometimes, if they’re letting you go stale, you got to be prepared to leave even though you might like it there and that’s hard.
