I have the same problem. Now and then when I'm running low on space I dig down into the massive labyrinth of around 18 years of backups from 10 different computers and start deleting stuff that I never should have kept.

nebula18133yi feel that. got 6tb of storage at home and it is such a mess >.<
started setting up nextcloud in my local cluster. i want to put everythin in there without duplicates but it is a hell of a work. want to put elastic search onto that for text search but it seems like my cluster is too small to handle that amount of resources xD -
Who even uses "backup drives" anymore ?
Just pay ANY online storage (OneDrive, DropBox, Google drive, whatever)
Right now, if my PC or SSD dies, I don't care.
Programs : Reinstall from internet
Data : in onedrive
Coding projects : GitHub + Azure devops
Literally, I wouldn't lose a thing if my pc burst in fire, just some time to setup a new one.
I think my worst trait is my lack of organization outside a work environment
I spent a few hours cleaning my old hard drives and I freed up 600GB of just duplicate files. Everything from driver backups and progam exe's to simple text documents
Most were in subfolders of a folder named some variation of 'sort_later' :/ oof
