We checked a rather important part in our communication services because it was throwing errors from time to time.

Asked our former technical project lead if he could help us since he developed it.

"I don't really know why it's doing that, I got it from a online example so I know as much as you do"

Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit, it seems I can be a senior developer too!

Well, he is at least honest

    But what are those errors?

@asgs overly simplified: locking problems. Or at least the exception that is thrown indicates it.

The "good" side is that nobody really cares since nothing seems to break in production, the code just suicides two or three times a day and no user notices that.
This is why I find it unlikely that I will find out what exactly is going on there anytime soon.
