I really like programming but after 5 years I realized it's a very social job. We have to deal with others more than the marketing people or heck even some customer service people.

    Ah yes, but the difference is, we have to deal with a lot of the same people. While they have to deal with a lot of strangers.

    As a developer I'm comfortable talking to my team and managers, because I know them long-term. But I can't handle some dumb client who I see like once a month, talking down to me or some shit like that.

    No but if you're client is douchebag, you need to deal with him only once. But if your team member is a douchebag, there's no way out except resigning

    it's even worse because you have to know the technical aspects, correctly interpret people and accurately translate one to the other.

    i often say this and it's absolutely true. plus we have so many social platforms, forums, pair programming, we rely a lot on soft skills
